However, recently, Connor McDavid, from his maiden team, Edmonton Oilers, became the first player after Wayne to achieve a rare feat in the 2022-23 season.

Connor McDavid plays center for the Edmonton Oilers and has performed exceptionally in the current season. Moreover, the fans couldn’t stop reacting to this exceptional achievement. However, the reactions were a mix of positive and negative comments.
Is he better than The Great Gretzky?
Comparisons are quite obvious when you achieve a feat, which was set by a legend. And Connor McDavid has scored more than 50 points in the 2022-23 NHL season, with games still to be played. Before him, this achievement was only attained by Wayne Gretzky for the Oilers in the 1988-89 NHL season.

When the NHL fans saw the stats, they couldn’t stop comparing the 25-year-old young Oilers’ center to the NHL legend. However, the reactions were pretty contrasting. On one hand, a few people rated him higher than Gretzky. Whereas, few people contradicted this thought and reacted otherwise.

Firstly, if we look at Wayne’s NHL record, he has played 1,487 games and scored 2,857 points. Moreover, the record includes 894 goals and 1963 assists.
