Verbal fights, physical fights, and fights involving team owners are common in NHL. In fact, the sport was once known for its physicality. However, players and teams also face strict actions for their actions. But that does not seem to be the case in Russia, according to former NHL brawler Paul Bissonnette.
During a candid discussion, Bissonnette revealed some past unheard stories of the KHL [Kontinental Hockey League], which also involved an AK-47 gun in the locker room. Here is how Bissonnette once recalled some stories he heard from others about the Russian ice hockey league.

In 2021, Bissonnette Bussin With The Boys podcast discussed his hockey career. While talking with the hosts, the famous SpittinChiclets co-host, who once played in England, shared some of his experiences of playing in overseas leagues.
However, the conversation soon shifted to KHL, as Bissonnette recalled stories by his fellow ice hockey players about the famous Russian league. But among other interesting stories, a particular locker room incident stunned the hosts. “They had an owner at one point and he was a straight mob. He would always get like three of four fighters. So, opening face-off, they just attack their five players and start beating the s**t out of them. And come in the locker room with an AK-47…” recalled Bissonnette.
However, the veteran hockey player believes that the over the years, the rules and regulations of KHL have changed. “KHL is the craziest league on the planet, or at least at one point, it was. It is changed a little bit as I said,” he concluded.
While the KHL is busy bringing a transformation in their league, NHL great Wayne Gretzky had a very controversial suggestion for the North American league.

Last year, the NHL GOAT featured on the SpittinChiclets podcast alongside Ryan Whitney, Paul Bissonnette, Barstool Sports writer Rear Admiral, and producer Mike Grinnell. During the podcast, Gretzky made a daring statement and believed he could get in some trouble for it. Still, someone had to say it.
Gretzky suggested that fighting should get banned from the league. Back then, Gretzky was the player to bring transformation into the sport and made it more technical than physical. Hence, his suggestion did not shock many. However, Gretzky did not wish this for himself. He said that he had met people who disliked watching ice hockey due to the number of fights breaking out in the rink.
