Goaltender Linus Ullmark is currently gaining all the limelight for his historical goal at the Boston Bruins vs Vancouver Canucks match. The 29-year-old shot a mind-boggling goal straight from his goalie position to the Canucks’ net ending the game at a 3 – 1 victory. Nevertheless, fans were blown away by his gutsy goal that elevated his fandom.

The nail-biting Vancouver Canucks vs Boston Bruins match happened on 26 February at the Rogers Arena, Canada. More so, Ullmark stroked the unbelievable goal when Bruins were already in their winning lead.

On Saturday, the stadium began cheering for the Bruins when they got the 2 -1 lead by the third period of the game against the Vancouver Canucks. Knowing that they had high winning chances, the Bruins decided to defend by the last few minutes of the game. On the other hand, the Canucks seemed to be pushing hard for an equalizer with their opponent team. In that struggle, the centers and the left and right wingers advanced toward the Bruins’s net with the puck and also pulled goalie Arturs Silovs away from the net. It created a golden opportunity for the Bruins goaltender Linus Ullmark to hit the puck far away from his net. However, he made the most of the moment by launching the puck that flew straight to the open Vancouver net.

Nevertheless, Ullmark’s historic goal made Boston Bruins win their sixth game consecutively at the NHL match on Saturday. More so, fans were super proud of the star goaltender. Many congratulated him on Twitter. Take a look;

A throwback at goalies who scored from the net

Ullmark is the eighth person to join the club of goaltenders who scored goals directly into the net. Ironically, the first person to do it was Ron Hextall from Philadelphia Flyers who shot it against Boston Bruins in 1987. Nevertheless, he also shot the second goalie goal in 1989.

Moreover, after Hextrall, the other goaltenders to tuck their name in the list were Chris Osgood, Martin Brodeur, Jose Theodore, Evgeni Nabokov, Mike Smith, Pekka Rinne, and now the list also includes Linus Ullmark.
