As the 52nd edition of the New York City Marathon is all set to commence on 5th November 2023, the anticipation leading to the event continues to keep participants and spectators on their toes. Amidst the sea of runners, the marathon opens its arms to cancer survivors. Among these survivors is Natasha Verma, a prominent figure as FOX 5 NY’s anchor. The poignant announcement of her participation carries a deeper resonance. A recent clip of a few minutes showcasing not one but 2 survivors’ words and spirit for the New York Marathon 2023 has shaken the world.

The New York Marathon 2023 is finally here and runners are all set to give their best at 8 a.m. ET. But before it began, a YouTube video on 4th November graced the internet. Titled ?NYC marathoner empowering others with her story of survival and food? the video showcases not one but two young cancer survivors who faced the same cancer, ?Hodgkin Lymphoma?. The video commences with Achor “Natasha Verma” sharing that she too will be participating in this year’s Marathon of Sunday.

She mentions, “This Sunday I’ ‘ll be among 50,000 runners looking across to the finish line in Central Park“. Furthermore, Natasha shares how being the biggest warrior against cancer, she met Lottie Mishan, “As a cancer survivor, I know the mindset of those who are fighting every day to regain control of their health and their bodies. And that’s what led me to meet Lottie Mishan, a fellow survivor now empowering others with her passion for cooking”.

Lottie in the conversation explores how, while being in high school when she got to know about this, she mentioned, “It felt like a death sentence.” However, her willpower is strong, she further mentioned, “But, this doesn’t mean my life is over. I could still live a beautiful life.” The video showcases how she has nailed various activities and is now on a journey to empower and inspire millions of others facing the same through food science.

Cancer survivor, a food enthusiast, a marathoner – Lottie has covered it all

Strong ladies have done it. In the middle of the clip, it is told how the brave lady has etched her name in almost every other activity. Even though a normal person thinks before doing physically challenging stuff, Lottie defied odds. She has aced Ironman, a triathlon made up of 2.4 miles swim, a 112m mile bike ride, and a 26.2-mile marathon.

At first, she couldn’t believe that she had done it. If she would have thought of doing all this 10 years ago, it would have been a daunting task. However, she pushed her mind, and herself, and eventually her body was ready for the Boston and New York marathons.

The video further showcases how Natasha and Lottie make an immunity booster smoothie together and Lottie talks about the Instagram page, “Runningonveggies” where she regularly showcases new dishes and green vegetable knowledge. These two rising not only inspire but with a positive mindset, create a healthy environment.
