The 2019 Senior National Champion awaits his triumphant return! Spencer Lee has been out of the game since April when he suffered a leg injury at the 2023 US Open. The 3 times NCAA Division I Champion will be looking to bring out his A-game this Saturday at the Bill Farrel International as he and others look to attract the attention of the crowd in preparation for the 2024 Olympics.

Tackling injuries is never easy, especially if you’re trying to get your spot on the national team. Lee will most likely attempt to keep his form from April at the New York Athletic Club on November 18. The University of Iowa student reached the semifinals at the US Open before his injury and now he focuses on bigger fishes to fry.

As the 2024 Olympics draw closer, athletes from all over the country look to make their mark hoping to make it to the national team. With Lee being one of the most formidable wrestlers in the country, his return will be at the center of things this Saturday at the Bill Farrel International. The official Instagram handle of the Titan Mercury Wrestling Club announced Lee’s highly anticipated return and fans are elated to learn about the news. “He’s back! 👀🔥 @spencerlee365 makes his return to the mat this Saturday, November 18th at the 2023 Bill Farrell International”, the post reads.

Prior to his forfeit, Lee had managed three straight wins with two tech falls and a 9-4 decision win. Critics expect his ability to end matches quickly will prevail once again at the Bill Farell International that took the fans by storm back in April. Lee is considered among the most dominant college athletes and rightly so! Lee has won the National Championships thrice and has five medals in different Big Ten Championships.

Considering Lee is back at his full health, he is the favorite to win in the 125 lb weight bracket. However, the journey won’t be easy at all, with Lee scheduled to face off against giants like Nico Megaludis, Cooper Flynn, and Luke Lilledahl.

Cooper Flynn and Luke Lilledahl are two relatively younger players who are slowly finding their steam at senior levels. Flynn ended the 2023 US Open in fifth place, while Lilledahl has had some notable wins in U17 and U20 world tournaments. Both will give Lee a tough time as he looks to claim his spot on the US National Team for 2024.
