Jackie Chan was emotional meeting with his parents after years of separation
In his autobiography, Never Grow Up, Jackie Chan mentioned his decade-long separation from his parents. Chan was 6 when his parents moved to Canberra, Australia with him. But the following year, they sent him back to Hong Kong for his schooling. He got so indulged in his education that 12 years passed by without seeing his parents.?

However, his urge to meet his parents got him to buy a plane ticket to Canberra. As soon as he landed and exited the airport, he first saw his father from a distance and took a moment to acquaint himself with his persona. He wrote, ?noticed a white-haired man in the distance. When I got closer, I recognized my father. In the few years since we?d last seen each other, his hair had gone completely white?.
Based on his book, as soon as Chan walked over to his father, Chan?s mother started hugging him, and he didn?t recognize her for a second. Explaining this, he scribbled, ?a tiny woman started hugging me. I looked at her and realized it was my mother. The last time I?d seen her, some twelve years ago, we were the same height?.
Chan described the moment of the family reunion as overwhelming. He got flooded with emotions. ?I was finally back with my parents. I was so glad to be with family, safe in their love and protection. It was like I could finally breathe again,? added Chan.

Chan?s stay in Canberra didn?t turn out to be as pleasant as he thought. Although he got to meet his parents, he was finding it hard to learn English. Chan even hated the food there. Above all, he missed the film studio. Nevertheless, after a few months, he returned to Hong Kong.

Clearly, Chan loved his parents dearly. However, it turned out that his decision to go back to Hong Kong gave him his first big break as he got hired at Golden Harvest Studio. The same studio where Bruce Lee worked.
