Ever since its inception in 1896, the Olympic Games have been one of the most buzzed-about sporting events in the world. Each edition of the event witnesses the excitement reaching its pinnacle. While technology and various aspects have evolved with time, the adrenaline rush around the meet remains the same. As the end of 2023 reaches its horizon, the major competitions in each sporting domain have also concluded, and the year 2024 will bring some even greater challenges with the Olympics set to kick off in Paris.

The preparations for the multisport competitions are already underway in the French capital, and the event looks promising already. To add more thrill and edge-of-the-seat excitement to next year’s Olympic Games, a legendary French music duo was approached to perform at the opening ceremony of the meet, but it looks like the Olympics have missed out on the trend as the duo has opted out to accept the offer.

The biggest sporting competition of them all is set to kick off on July 26, 2024. As the stage was set, the organizers planned to give the opening ceremony a musical touch. The legendary electronic music duo Daft Punk was approached to perform at the event, but the former musical partners did not agree to show up. EDM Tunes have shared a post on their Facebook page with the headline “2024 Paris Olympics Official Hints at Daft Punk Appearance.” Thomas Jolly, the artistic director of the Paris meet, said in a statement given on Tuesday morning on a French radio show that “it would be great if they were in the ceremony.”

He also concluded that it was impossible for the organizers not to think about the duo when it came to a successful French group with international exposure. But when the interview came to an end and Jolly was asked to divulge an unwholesome notion, he replied that he might have lied a bit about daft punk. However, in an official statement released on Wednesday, the director said that the band is not returning for the games. Amidst Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, aka Daft Punk, not returning, the competition still looks promising with all the updates being made.
