Devastation is the perfect word to describe whatever is going on in LA currently. The flames have inflicted an incredible number of people. And a lot of land with massive properties succumbed to the scorching flames. The wildfires have affected many major parts of the city. And this raises questions about the management of the upcoming 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. And as Donald Trump assumes office in the coming days, there could be significant changes to the management of the coveted event.

But while some parts of the city remain intact, the wildfire has destroyed major ones. The fate of the highly anticipated LA Olympics has completely changed. And according to the event’s president, everything now depends on the next US president.

While the city of LA scorched in the flames, the sports fans had a simple question, which was about the Olympic Games. Indeed, after a successful stint in Paris last year, sports enthusiasts are looking forward to the next edition in LA, but fate had a different course planned for the city of Angels. The economic impact that these wildfires had is the biggest ever in the history of US fire disasters. The firefighters gave it their all, but still, a lot was lost to these scorching flames.

As reported by the Daily Mail, despite all this, the future of the Olympic Games in LA isn’t looking good. The current president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Thomas Bach, has opened up on this. He states, “I don’t think it would be really fair or right, with regard to my successor, to seek contact again now and perhaps influence any decisions that are then incumbent on my successor.”

The next president of the IOC will be elected in this year’s March. And the LA event will be the first Olympic to be hosted and managed by them. So, for now, Bach doesn’t want to speak to US President Donald Trump. He doesn’t want to influence any decision that the upcoming IOC president would want to take for the next edition of the coveted event. While Bach was candid that he did have conversations with Trump post-election after he won against Kamala Harris, he hasn’t contacted the president-elect after the wildfires hit LA.

Looking at the current situation and the impact the city has gone through, 2028 doesn’t seem that far to solve all the problems around the affected areas. The wildfires hit many popular venues. This includes the likes of Riviera Country Club, the Olympic Village, and Rose Bowl Stadium.

However, the authorities have not announced any initiatives to restore the destruction around them. The management has disappointed most fans. But a popular American media personality has also stressed their views on relocating the Olympic Games after the wildfires.

Recently, Charlie Kirk joined Fox host Jesse Watters with a simple demand. And it is to relocate the next edition of the Olympic Games. “The Los Angeles Olympics should be canceled. If you can’t fill a fire hydrant, you aren’t qualified to host the Olympics. Move them to Dallas or Miami so the world’s athletes can compete in a place capable of actually safely building and running something,” said the American media personality.

He doesn’t want the IOC to risk and conduct the Olympic Games. Why? The event has international significance and can cost up to $6.8 billion. And LA, after being consumed by flames, does not look like it is capable of hosting it. Given Kirk’s involvement in Trump’s campaigns, it appears unlikely that LA will host the Olympic Games once the president-elect assumes office in a few weeks.
