The Olympic committee has faced severe setbacks over the past few months. Recently, the organization banned alcohol for the public, leading to fans who purchased the costly tickets to leave saddening comments on social media. Furthermore, the committee also imposed a hijab ban on the French athletes participating in the event, causing severe backlash and furore.

However, after the dismay faced by the committee months before the Paris Olympics 2024, the International Committee announced a major update on social media. This new initiative by the committee will work towards diminishing poverty and helping with the residential crisis in Paris before the Olympics is up and running.

Olympic Committee’s new initiative to socially incentivize people

On October 31st, IOC media posted an intriguing update on X. According to the tweet, “Paris 2024 brings urban regeneration to areas with some of the highest unemployment and poverty rates in France.”Residents will benefit from a boost in sports-related employment, an increase in cycling lanes and green public spaces, and a range of health education and inclusion initiatives.” The committee will generate up to 15,000 jobs in many sectors and the public will have a chance to work in the tourism, catering, construction, and event organization sectors.

Furthermore, the committee, in collaboration with trade unions, decided to act as a springboard to provide job opportunities. According to the implication implied by the organization, ten percent of the working hours will be generated by the unemployed, a web platform called EMPLOIS 2024 will provide a list of all the job opportunities present, and lastly, the authorities will also provide training opportunities to the young generation of France to pave their way towards employment.

Till now, the most affected parts of the country have been targeted by the Olympic organization. The authorities have provided many unique opportunities for the afflicted area. With the drastic improvement in urban spaces in France over the next year, it will pave the way to a seamless organization for the Olympics. It will serve as a barometer for public gentrification and overall human resource development and to alleviate the problems of the downtrodden. People from broken homes, lower income societies, etc so on and so forth, will be guaranteed gainful employment.

Opportunities provided by the Olympic Committee

Seine-Saint-Denis, a commune in the north-east of Paris, is the most affected area of Paris, with the highest percentage of unemployment among youngsters. To boost the economy in the area, the authorities under the project – Impact 2024, have decided to increase sports-related employment, health education, and other opportunities. These include swimming programs, free sports events, and disability awareness programs. Apart from this initiative, more than a thousand projects have been initiated under Impact 2024. Since 2022, more than 3.1 million people, including the elderly, people from disadvantaged areas, and prisoners, have been given fair reparation by employing these innovative strategies.

Furthermore, after the games, the Aquatic Center, the only permanent venue for the 2024 Olympics, will also be used by the locals as a skatepark, swimming pool and a climbing wall. The Olympic Village, which is currently under construction, will house up to 2,800 apartments for families and business purposes. All in all, this effort will genuinely help many residents and help bring about a change for the better in society. One thing’s for sure though, the Paris Olympics will be a cinch due to current efforts being put in place for the displaced and unemployed, thus ensuring a peaceable habitat for optimum performance.
