The Paris Olympics has had its share of popularity for over a month now with several disappointments in hand. Not talking about the performances, but specifically, the after-effects that have caused a surge among fans quite recently. The International Olympic Committee has been put under serious backlash for a step in the social media world that cost erasing the work of a team of over 3500 people.
With the year coming to an end, the IOC’s shocking revelation comes in the face of deleting the official Instagram account of the 2024 Paris Olympics. Catering news and entertainment worldwide to fans with daily updates from such a prestigious event, the account has abruptly gone with no posts visible now. With the cause known, the decision comes in collaboration with Meta with all the number of account followers transferred to the official account of the Olympics.
The 20-day event held this year in Paris has attracted the attention of fans worldwide, but with the decision, the outrage among fans has outgrown in large numbers with harsh criticism rising against the IOC. Besides the fans, people who have given their all working for the popularity of their page have come out expressing their concern on the matter.

International Olympic Committee receives backlash from social media expert
Changes are good, but taking a step to remove the trace of the event as colossal as the Olympics is drastic. In this scenario, the change also came, with no respect to the work conducted by the team behind the production of massive posts for the Instagram account of the Paris Olympics 2024. The amount of time spent on the content creation took years of hard work, which now remains a mere history.

For former Paris Olympics Social Media Expert Julien Fritsch, the decision comes as a big disappointment in the hard work done. “They erased our memories, the images, films, and emotions of an enchanted summer. All the visible parts of the work of 3,500 people and a host of talents: photographers, videographers, agencies, partners, and even supporters of the Games. We thought we would leave an intangible legacy, help future organizers, keep a trace in history like the other editions before us, and bequeath all that to France 2030. But they preferred to delete our memories. And all our work.”
The unearned achievement by the Olympic Federation, however, comes as a big setback to be remembered in history. This was not just the first incident that happened in relation to the Paris Olympics event. A previous scenario saw a small incident happening quite similar to the current one but comes in minor.

With over 3.5 million followers taken away by the IOC, the 2024 Paris Olympics, after creating much-awaited popularity for the 20-day event, has come out as the biggest setback. A similar turn of events also happened at the start of the Olympics schedule, when the official video of the opening ceremony was deleted from the Olympics account, even from YouTube.
Quite unexpectedly, the video vanished, leaving behind the other full-length videos, including the 2012, 2016, and 2022 Olympics still available. With no reason stated for such an immediate decision, the rumors come with links to offensive grounds of provoking religious outrage depicting moments from Leonardo da Vinci’s painting “The Last Supper”. But soon enough, the ceremony artistic director Thomas Jolly cleared out the rumors on the matter, giving the situation a rest. The current scenario, however, on the other hand, has created a big surge in fans’ anger over such a decision made by the IOC.
