Two former British Olympic ice skaters are planning to make a comeback to the spotlight and there’s a philanthropically silken touch to it. The Carlisle natives are back on the icy ground, this time with a more profound aim: a commemoration of thankfulness. After giving up competitive skating, the fervently passionate duo found themselves in a new role as parents. Because of complications, they were directed to the heroes of Cumberland Infirmary’s Special Care Baby Unit, where their daughter Darcey received essential medical attention.

The dynamic duo will now lace on their skates again in a genuine effort to raise awareness of the amazing job that the SCBU does. With their last performance in the international competition on Friday in Dumfries, they hope to draw attention to the ‘wonderful’ efforts that were instrumental in saving Darcey’s life. Their swansong is sure to turn heads, knowing there’s a cause behind it.
