Wayne Gretzky needs no formal introduction. Having played 20 NHL seasons, Wayne is one of the most decorated ice hockey players in history. Dominating the ice rim from 1979 to 1999, the hockey star was a force to reckon with. He not only led his team to crucial victories but also grabbed the headlines.
However, back in 2014, it was not Wayne who made the headlines. His daughter Paulina caught herself amidst opinions because of a magazine photoshoot. Reasons? Let’s find out!

Wayne’s daughter grabbed the headlines for the wrong reason
As Paulina Gretzky made it to the cover of the 2014 Gold Digest magazine, not everyone was happy. A lot of players on the LPG tour were upset. Many golfers were upset with the magazine’s choice of featuring Paulina on the cover. Stacy Lewis, the then world’s third-ranked player, told USA Today that many of her colleagues were unhappy with the decision.

Expressing her views on it, Lewis said, “It’s the state of where we’ve always been.” The ace golfer added, “We don’t get the respect for being the golfers we are.” As opinions stood divided, many pointed out that Pauline got a chance to get featured in the cover photo because she was then engaged to golfer legend Dustin Johnson.
Making her point, Lewis remarked, “Obviously, Golf Digest is trying to sell magazines, but at the same time, you like to see a little respect for the women’s game.” Paulina being on the cover photo was also not well received by former Bishop Gorman star and then-world top-ranked female golfer Inbee Park. She, too, expressed her displeasure over the whole incident.

The golf connection of Wayne Gretzky
You may not have seen the hockey star with golfing stick, but his golf connection can not be negated. For those unversed, Wayne’s daughter Paulina married the hockey great Dustin Johnson. The two have been engaged since 2013. Earlier this year, the two tied the knot.

The two first met in 2009 during a Pro-Am event. Paulina and Dustin share two children. Paulina began her career as a singer. Her first song was ‘I will remember you.’ She also got the honor of singing the Canadian National Anthem at the Hockey World Cup in 2004.
