Chaotic Celebrations During an NHL Encounter Led to Ice Hockey Official Suffering a Bizarre Injury in 2022

The sport of Ice-Hockey keeps fans on their toes till the final whistle. Fans have witnessed countless accidents on the ice surface. The high-pressure situations force players to try something out of the box. And as a result, sometimes they end up hurting themselves. These accidents often result in serious injuries to the players and their opponents. However, an accident that happened last year during an Ice-Hockey match shook the entire industry as the injured person was sitting far away from the players.

On the night of 6th May 2022, an exciting match became a nightmare for the fans when the official fell unconscious after getting injured severely. 

A Glass pane crashed on the timekeeper’s head during an ice hockey match

A heart-wrenching incident took place during a match of ice hockey between the Boston Bruins and Carolina Hurricanes at the TD Garden Arena. Joey Foley, the timeout coordinator of the match, was hospitalized after a pane of glass crashed on his head during the event.

Since the Boston Bruins were playing a home game, the fans were going crazy for the match. After their right winger, David Pastrňák, scored a point for the team to get a 3-1 lead, fans were overjoyed. According to the report by Mirror, while the fans celebrated, the uncontrollable enthusiasm led to a chaotic incident. As the supporters were banging continuously, a glass pane came down.

The eyewitnesses stated that because it was just above Foley’s head, the glass pane crashed straight on his head, leaving him severely injured. The injured timeout coordinator tried to seek his chair to hunch over, but he was seen in tremendous pain. While the audience was still recovering from the shock, his colleagues and the medical team rushed to help. The match was paused while he was given medical attention on the side.

Since the injuries were severe, Foley was then taken to a hospital for treatment. His present condition is not known.

An official statement was released from Boston’s side on their social media platforms, where they expressed regret at such a bizarre incident and sent their best wishes to the timeout coordinator.
