In the latest update on Facebook, the Thoroughbred Daily News announced the euthanization of Two Emmys after suffering a broken leg at the Fair Grounds. The winner of prestigious Grade 1 Mr. D. S had amassed a stellar racing record of 25-8-9-1. Announcing the tragic news, the post read, “Two Emmys (English Channel), winner of the final running of the Mr. D. S. (ex Arlington Million) in 2021, was euthanized Sunday after he fractured his leg in a workout at the Fair Grounds. Two Emmys amassed a record of 25-8-9-1 for earnings of $985,083″.
Two Emmys suffered a tragic accident during a workout at Fair Grounds on Sunday Morning which resulted in a severely broken leg. He is believed to have been bounced off by another horse resulting in the knee fracture. Bought for $4, 500 at the 2017 Keenland September Sale, the 8-year-old managed to win eight races in his career. As curtains draw on his career, euthanasia has sparked a debate among social media users.

While injuries are common in a fast-paced sport like horse racing, the injuries turning into deaths or euthanasia is heartbreaking. “I am absolutely gutted for his connections. He was truly loved, respected and treated as well as any horse could be. Life is just not fair sometimes“, a heartbroken fan wrote.

Two Emmys was trained by Hugh Robertson, who is a highly respected trainer in racing circles. While some alleged mismanagement, others raced in to put their trust in Robertson. “Stop with the racing past age comments, it was a freak accident during morning training, and anyone that knows the robertsons knows they have a lot of older horses still racing because they are lightly raced and very well taken care of”, a user commmeted. Highlighting the same, another user wrote, “Robertson horses get the best of care”.

But seeing these incidents repeated year after year can be disheartening. “Stop this Cruelty, Do away Horse Racing, these Beautiful Animals Suffer when this Happens“, an emotional fan commented. Nonetheless, it was truly a remarkable career for Two Emmys.
