The hockey world mourned as one of the most beloved players Gino Odjick breathed his last on Sunday. The Vancouver Canucks player died at 52 due to a sudden heart attack. Moreover, the news of his demise is receiving several sad reactions from hockey veterans and players across the world.
On Sunday, Gino went to a medical clinic to get leg bandages. While there with his longtime friend Peter Leech, he experienced a sudden heart attack, and ultimately lost his life. Although he received medical care from nurses for 45 minutes, the heart attack was too severe to survive.

The shocking demise of the Vancouver Canucks left winger was announced by his sister on Facebook. She wrote- “Our hearts are broken. My brother Gino Odjick has left us for the spirit world.” Moreover, the news was broadcast during the Canucks-Hurricanes game. The unfortunate demise of Goin received many sad reactions from fans on twitter;
Someone wrote that Gino was equivalent to Gretzky;
Played in a few tournaments in Maniwacki growing up. We had no idea of who he was the 1st time there but quickly learnt he was a big deal. He had a tendency of coming to these tourneys. The man was the equivalent to Gretzky up in Maniwacki and incredibly kind. #RIPGinoOdjick

Gino Odjick played from 1990-98 and became a fan-favorite player the moment he joined Vancouver Canucks. Moreover, he played a total of 12 seasons in his entire NHL career in New York Islanders, Philadelphia Flyers, and Montreal Canadiens including Canucks.
Gino Odjick was a true fighter
The legendary hockey player suffered many health conditions throughout his life. In 2014, he was diagnosed with AL Amyloidosis — a condition where proteins form deposits on the heart making it unable to work eventually. However, with a learned team of doctors, Gino was treated to recover from it. But his condition made him experience two setbacks.

Firstly, he went through chemotherapy in 2022. Later on, his legs developed an infection that required bandage treatment. Amidst, his frequent visits to the hospital, no one expected him to pass away due to a heart attack.
