The 2024 Paris Olympics is now only a year away. And every gymnast is on their tiptoes as they hold on to their mats to get a ticket to Olympics 2024. Big shot athletes Simone Biles and Sunisa Lee after a long hiatus are also ready to get themselves a seat in the Olympics, as they get ready for the U.S. Classic championships.

However, not every athlete has a chance of getting into the next Olympic game. Oksana Chusovitina, a 48-year-old artistic gymnast is most likely to not take part in the big game, as Chusovitina did not participate in an eight-day event in June. For the athlete to be able to witness her ninth game now would be a historical moment.

On Friday, the list of women’s artistic gymnasts qualifying for the 2024 Olympics was released by the International Gymnastics Federation. Sadly, Uzbek artistic gymnast Oksana Chusovitina was not on the list released on June 30, as she did not participate in any qualifying championships held in Singapore.

The global Asian event of the Asian Gymnastics Championship of Singapore was an 8-day event starting on June 10.

The Uzbek gymnast had decided to come out of retirement after participating in Tokyo 2021 to win a medal for her country. In an interview with Olympic news, the Uzbek athlete stated, “During the Tokyo Games and already before the Games, I said that I would leave the professional sport, I would no longer compete.” said Chusovitina “But after the Games, you know, I thought for a long time. I would regret it if I left the sport. I wanted to leave a little differently, so I tried to start training, I continued my sports career in order to leave the sport the way I want it.”

Fewer chances of securing a seat.

The seats for the 2024 Olympics are only reserved for top eligible gymnasts. Besides this, there are two more competitions to get a ticket to the Olympics: the Apparatus World Cup series and the 2024 Asian Championship. All in all, the athlete has a slim chance of qualifying for the competition due to the seats reserved only for the top eligible gymnast in the vault.

The Olympic games will truly be a spectacular event to witness as the top athletes showcase their talent on the mat. Hopefully, along with the other gymnasts, fans can also be able to witness Chusovitina in Paris representing Uzbekistan at the games.
