“This is why we can’t have nice things” – Taylor Swift’s song seems to be very relevant for the 7-time Olympic medalist. Simone Biles‘ recent fan interaction shows that regardless of how good you are at what you do, one offhand reaction could turn you into a bad guy. Like many others, Emily is a huge fan of Simone Biles and has often enjoyed the elite gymnast put her best foot forward on the floor. A week ago, she decided to voice her honest opinion on X stating how it she doesn’t enjoy Biles’ floor music at the Trials. Biles, opting for a funny response, simply said “no one cares“. Seems like a lighthearted reaction between two people who know each other, right? Turns out, it doesn’t. Biles’ fans came to her defense and stood up for her trolling Emily.
I was literally being funny & you’re just hateful. & if we as athletes come across a tweet that mentions us, we are allowed to respond. point blank.

Things soon got out of hand, which resulted in Emily deleting her X account. One fan noticed the commotion and expressed, “Wtf just happened with Emily?! I just hope Simone flops hard now because her fans are insufferable and know no limits. Cancelling her for saying the truth was already bad, but going after HER JUDGE LICENSE?? Her chorey and artistry are atrocious! Everyone can see it LMAO” Many other gymnastics enthusiasts seemed to share the same opinion. They continued to voice their opinions and questioned why things got out of hand.

The 4-time Olympic gold medalist decided to step in and put a stop to it by stating, “I was literally being funny & you’re just hateful. & if we as athletes come across a tweet that mentions us, we are allowed to respond. point blank.” Another fan even pointed out how Emily was a fan and was concerned about artistry deductions regarding her routine. While it is obvious that Biles doesn’t encourage the trolling, it does bring up a question. Are elite athletes not allowed to interact with people like any other person would?
Fans also started comparing the GOAT with another gymnast, pointing out how people wouldn’t have run to their defense. Simone Biles isn’t privy to constructive criticism. It’s part of the being a public figure. But what brought on this reaction from Emily and the rest of the gymnastics community?

The crowd in the stands went wild when they heard Beyonce and Travis Scott’s “Delresto (Echoes).”

But this wasn’t the first time the decorated gymnast had performed this routine. She had first debuted the iconic routine at the 2024 Core Hydration Classics. It isn’t surprising to see Biles use Swift’s music for her routines, as she has previously mentioned that she is a Swiftie.
