Simone Biles is at it again! After winning three gold medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics, the 27-year-old superstar is back in the U.S. for her ‘Gold Over America Tour.’ She’s not alone. Big names like Jordan Chiles, Jade Carey, Brody Malone, Frederick Richard, and Hezly Rivera are joining her, with a total of 18 gymnasts hitting the stage. Biles herself promised on September 14th that this tour would be “way better.” Well, it’s her second go-around since 2021, and so much has changed for her: both in her career and how she’s been managing her health and mental well-being!
The ‘GOAT’ tour kicks off on September 16, with stops in cities like Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, and Houston, among others. But before hitting the road, Simone Biles took a moment to chat with Steve Luke during her stop in San Diego. When Steve asked her, “So having had a few weeks to digest what happened in Paris, there was a lot. How does it rank in terms of your athletic achievements and what stands out?”
Biles was candid in her response, saying, “Oh my goodness, definitely at the top of it in Rio. I was so young. I was 19 years old, so you’re kind of blindsided a little bit about the whole experience and a little bit naive.” Back in 2016, Biles entered the Rio Olympics as a favorite and more than delivered. She led the U.S. to gold in the team event, claimed the individual all-around title, and took home golds in both floor and vault. Her performance made her, at that time, the fifth female gymnast to win four gold medals at a single Olympics.

Biles went on to say, “Tokyo was not the best outcome that I could have wished.” Well, five years ago, the expectations were sky-high as she entered the delayed 2020 Tokyo Games. However, she had to withdraw from most events due to “the twisties,” a mental block where gymnasts lose spatial awareness during aerial moves. Her decision to step back ignited important conversations about the immense pressure athletes face and brought mental health in sports to the forefront.
She continued, “But you know, go back into the gym, and I started therapy, started working mentally and physically to get healthier, and then I was just blessed to be able to compete at a 3rd Olympic Games for our country, and it was so amazing. We had one goal in mind, which was team competition, and we achieved just that, so I think definitely at the top we were so excited because we were gunning for that for so long and we knew we could do it, so once it was all final set and done, we were like, so ecstatic!” Since her return in 2023, Biles has been virtually unbeatable. And in Paris, she truly proved why she’s often called the greatest gymnast of all time.

A month back, Simone Biles helped the U.S. win team gold, reclaimed her individual all-around title, and dazzled with a Yurchenko double pike on the vault for her third gold of the Games. Even though she had a slip on the balance beam, finished fifth, and stepped out of bounds twice on her floor routine to take silver, she still solidified her legendary status with an unforgettable performance. However, Biles has a high plan for the upcoming goat tour.

As Simone Biles prepares for the ‘GOAT’ tour, which she’s calling an Olympic celebration tour, she’s excited about its concept. Biles believes the tour is designed to give gymnasts a platform to share their personal stories and create an experience that feels like a high-energy pop concert with some of the best gymnasts in the world.
Biles is confident and said, “Some of the best gymnasts in the world, and I think it’ll be super exhilarating, very high energy, and I think the crowd will love this; it’s something that’s never been done before like this; we did it after 2021, but I think this year’s show is going to be way way better, and so I just can’t wait for everyone to see it.” With that being said, it seems Biles, with her signature flair, is ready to bring all the excitement and energy to the stage.
