On 24th May 2022, in the Hill Country of South Texas, Uvalde witnessed one of the deadliest massacres in modern U.S. history. 19 fourth graders and 2 teachers of Robb Elementary School were shot to death by the 18-year-old armed student, rendering the whole country in affliction. It?s been one year since the catastrophe took place in Texas, but students, parents, teachers, U.S. citizens, and people across the continents are still mourning the loss of those who fell victim to the debacle.?

Ever since the mass shooting left everything in shambles, families and close-knit acquaintances are in rifts due to the loss of their loved ones. Many even voiced their silence and expressed their heartfelt eulogies by remembering the last moments and anecdotes. In the wake of this, many renowned personalities also took a moment to address the gravity of the matter. Likewise, recently, Simone Biles? sister-in-law Sammi Biles also shared a heartfelt message and expressed her concerns on the matter.

Simone Biles? sister-in-law pens a heartfelt missive

On 24th May 2023, Sammi Biles took to her Instagram story and re-shared the reel by the New York Times. In the video, a 9-year-old boy from Uvalde shared an emotional anecdote about his three cousins who were killed in the deadly fiasco.

As the kid expressed his pain of losing his dear ones, Ronni Biles’ mother penned, ?Wrong on so many levels, this should not be a norm?. She further penned, ?bless him and his amazing articulation but sheesh this is not ok children deserve to be children and seek school as a safe place?.?

While many called for the urgency to introduce strict laws for safety on school premises, others raised questions about the security of civilians in public institutions. Nonetheless, the shooting not just rendered the people of the States in agony, but it marked the ninth deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. History.?

Members of the community are still grappling with the echo of grief

Though it?s been a year since the incident shook the world to the core, the wounds are still fresh as new. Nevertheless, the visuals of the massacre will still remain with those who witnessed the whole fiasco. One of those witnesses of the accident was the 9-year-old J.T. Martinez, who was present at the site of the shooting and lost his cousins in the havoc.

?Of all the schools in Uvalde, that one classroom was picked? stated Martinez. Expressing his grief, he added, ?I?m not going to see him for a long time?. The debacle indeed left a deep void in the hearts of millions, as 21 innocent people lost their lives in the process. And being a mother herself, Sammi Biles raised her unfeigned concerns about the safety and welfare of the students.
