Of all the events in gymnastics, where athletes spend their whole lives perfecting their skills—whether it’s the floor, parallel bars, high bars, or rings—Stephen Nedoroscik knew he only needed one: the pommel horse. “It’s the one I’ve done solely for the last seven years, and proudly,” he said, reflecting on his journey. That dedication led him to become a medal-winning Olympian in Paris despite his strabismus: a goal he’d been chasing since his time at Penn State. The man has become a fan favorite! Now, the big question is: what’s next for this Olympic star?
After making history at the fabled games, Nedoroscik has taken on a new challenge: Dancing with the Stars. When he first joined the show, he wasn’t too confident in his dancing abilities, even calling himself a “cowardly and scared dancer.” But by Week 9, Stephen had proven that he’s more than just a gymnast—he’s got some serious moves! Despite his success on the dance floor, Stephen doesn’t see dancing or gymnastics as his future.
In a recent interview on the Shawn & Andrew Podcast with former Olympic gymnast Shawn Johnson and NFL player Andrew East, he shared his thoughts about life after gymnastics. “I’m loving every day of my life right now,” he said, acknowledging the busy schedule he never expected. “But those 5 to 10-year plans? It’s going to be like I’ll continue with gymnastics until my body falls apart and I can’t do it anymore.” But Stephen has more in mind beyond sports. After his gymnastics career, he plans, sharing, “After that, I’m going to be an electrical engineer.”

Andrew East further inquired about Stephens’s motivations: whether he is drawn by the excitement of overcoming obstacles and seeking fame and wealth. Stephens’s answer centered around his passion, for the subject, at hand.“It’s not financial at all,” he explained. “I didn’t expect to really make any money off of gymnastics. I think it’s more of just a pride thing.” He added.
“I don’t know when the journey will end, but as long as I’m getting better, still enjoying the sport, and my body can handle it. I’m going to continue. 100% going to continue.”, the 26 year old said. For Stephen, it’s all about pushing himself and staying true to what he loves. How do you see Stephen’s career unfolding in the future? Tell us in the comment section below!
