But that’s not all, post her enchanting performances at the Paris Olympics, Biles was seen wearing a boot on her foot as a precaution.
Wondering why? “We have tour in a couple weeks. So, I’m just going to rest and heal,” explained Biles. Like a true champion, Biles is off to prepare for her next adventure. Why did Simone Biles skip the Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony?
As for the Opening Ceremony, Simone Biles chose to skip it to focus on her first competition. After witnessing her performances, the questions as to why she needed to conserve her energy were answered! Biles nailed her vault with a historic 15.700. That was a 6.4 on the difficulty score, which is .8 points higher than any other vault in the finals. And who can forget the Cheng Vault? Biles scored a 14.900. But the most wholesome moment had to be the floor exercise moment. Biles did not win Gold, but yet the moment will go down in history. Brazilian gymnast Rebeca Andrade won Gold and Jordan Chiles won Bronze, making it an all Black women podium. And as an act of sportsmanship and respect, the two US stars bowed to Andrade!

That’s not all! Biles also had two other golden wins in the Women’s Artistic Individual All-Around as well as the Women’s Artistic Team All-Around. Alongside Jade Carey, Suni Lee, Jordan Chiles, and Hezly Rivera, Team USA won Gold. It is rather fair to say that despite not being at the Opening Ceremony, Biles has made her mark at the Paris Olympics. As she reflected on her Paris Gold Rush, Biles said, “I’ve accomplished way more than in my wildest dreams. Not just at this Olympics, but in the sport.” So, circling back, will the world see Biles at the Paris Olympics Closing Ceremony? No official word yet, maybe, just maybe, it’s yet another surprise in true Biles style?
