The Black music icons impress Jordan Chiles heavily. The 23-year-old Oregon native has often said how these icons have motivated her to shake off the complications in her personal life and go with the flow. Notably, Jordan’s life centers around her identity as a gymnast, and she has incorporated the lessons she learned from these icons to live in the moment. Her Beyoncé-inspired leotard worn at the US National Gymnastics Championships this year exemplified that truth. At the award ceremony for the women’s gymnastics all-around final at the Paris Olympics, Jordan took it a step further.
She flaunted customized golden grills on her teeth while posing with her gold medal. The style statement quickly made waves in the world of sports and entertainment. This appearance led to widespread curiosity about the maker of such a unique piece. Let’s explore who created the grills.

We did not have to brainstorm much as Jordan Chiles herself revealed the creator. In her conversation with Eileen Cartter of GQ, the former world championship medalist said that the Houston-based artist Jimmy Phan, also known as Jimmy Boi, was the mastermind behind this Beyoncé-inspired design. Sharing more about the artist, Jordan conceded, “I met him at a Texas playoff game and he was like, “I would love to do a piece for you.” And the rest, as they say, is history.” Her pose biting the Olympic gold medal at the podium attracted a sizable chunk of the limelight on Tuesday. However, according to the gymnast, the artist was the main attraction.
Running a studio named Done Right & Co, Jimmy has climbed the ranks by designing jewelry for popular names. The list includes Floyd Mayweather, Flo Rida, Devin Haney, Slim Thug, and several other celebrities. After Tuesday, Jordan’s name is now part of that list. She mentioned that she already had the idea to win the all-around gold title at the Paris Olympics final.
So, she contacted Jimmy Boi asking for a customized jewelry pendant. “Originally I was gonna try to have Olympic rings made, but I was like, I want this to be something that I can wear for the rest of my life, not just like a once-in-a-lifetime thing” Meanwhile, Beyoncé appeared again in the vicinity and Jordan Chiles copied her.

Speaking on that, she revealed, “The bottom grill, the inspo pic I got was from Beyoncé. When she released her Cowboy Carter [album], just any photo that she posted with her grill in her mouth up close, you can see that her bottom teeth have the bar.” Jimmy Boi carried out the rest of the part and handed Jordan the jewelry. Ultimately, the two-time Olympian could not hide her joy after watching his creation and thanked the “dope dude”. However, she had a few more shades on her on the D-day.

The process and enjoyment of embracing the beauty
At the Paris Olympics gymnastics all-around final, Jordan Chiles once could be seen applying her lip gloss after completing her performance. In the high-octane contest, a visual like this irked several eyes. But being “I’m that girl”, the outspoken gymnast had nothing to clarify about her fashionable persona. Instead, she could talk about her way of embracing her beauty.

In an interview with Vogue, she said, “It did take me a while to embrace my beauty. But now that I embrace my beauty, I love it. I love waking up in the morning and doing skin care, I love being able to do my makeup and being able to just enjoy every moment that I am as a woman.” Such a need makes her apply the makeup routines on her. The revelation says that the process is no less than 26 steps.
In those steps, she applies around 15 products including lip oils, foundation, and primers. The last one performs the most essential part in any situation, be it joyous moments or teary-eyed conditions. On Tuesday night, she shed tears while completing her floor exercise on the mat. Thus, not only her gymnastics, these things are also in the background making Jordan Chiles the ‘woman’ she wants to be.
