Just a few more weeks. The UCLA Bruins will commence their 2024/25 NCAA gymnastics season soon, and the fans hope to see the national trophy back on campus for the first time since 2018. With Olympic gold medalist Jordan Chiles returning to the fold, things are already looking bright. And it looks like the Washington native is also getting her cheering cap on ahead of the big comeback.
The 23-year-old was part of the national squad that won team gold at the Paris Olympics earlier this year. Subsequently, she announced her wish to return to competing at the collegiate level once again. Over the past few weeks, Chiles has also been sharing sneak peeks about how she’s preparing for her emphatic comeback to the NCAA scene. However, it seems like she is determined to make the most of her remaining college days, even when she’s not sporting the Bruins leotard.
In her latest series of Instagram stories from November 30, Jordan Chiles showed off how she’s soaking in the UCLA atmosphere at the Rose Bowl Stadium as the Bruins took on the Fresno State Bulldogs. In one of her IG updates, Chiles shared a clip of UCLA football’s home turf as Gansta Paradise can be heard playing over the PA in the background. Her presence in the stands didn’t go unnoticed, and the official UCLA Athletics account also took to the social media platform to nod its head at the Olympian.

Chiles shared more snippets of how she was gelling with the attending fans and posing together for the cameras. Unsurprisingly, she didn’t come alone. Chiles’ mom Gina also seems to have accompanied the gymnast to the Bruins’ football game (which UCLA won 20-13, increasing its overall record to 5-7). Gina also shared brief clips on how her Olympic gold medalist daughter was brushing up her cheerleading skills to help the football team get back to its winning ways, while also using her floor exercise moves to give the cheerleaders a few tips to up their game.

At the 2023 NCAA Championships, Chiles won silver in the AA. Naturally, with Olympic gold in the bag, it’s understandable if she feels like it’s time to upgrade her national All-Around title, and the fans are all up for it. In fact, Jordan’s followers have a few suggestions of their own to help make her comeback one to remember. Considering how the fiasco unfolded after the 2024 Games, maybe it wouldn’t be too bad to pay heed to the advice either.
Jordan Chiles will aim to forget her misfortune
Along with the team gold, Chiles had won floor exercise bronze at the 33rd Games in the City of Love in August. However, just days after that, she was notified to hand over the hardware to Romania’s Ana Barbosu. The CAS (Court of Arbitration for Sports) claimed that the USA didn’t follow proper inquiry protocols for Jordan’s case and maintained its stance. Justifiably, the star’s and Team USA’s gymnastics fans created a ruckus about the directive, and even the gymnastics GOAT and Chiles’ BFF Simone Biles took to social media to urge the authorities to be fair about its verdict.

Democratic Representative Stephen Cohen, former tennis star Patrick McEnroe, and gymnastics icon Nadia Comaneci all did their best to use their voices to bring an amicable solution, but in vain. During the drama, Chiles’ family stood firm beside her and kept their hands on her shoulder all the time. Gina slammed trolls who tried to throw shades at her daughter and reminded everyone how Jordan’s accomplishments speak for themselves.
