It’s all water under the bridge now for the Chiles household in Washington. What initially felt like a massive blow to the guts for UCLA’s Jordan Chiles now seems to be more like a learning moment for her entire family. Through her Olympic turmoil, Jordan’s family also seems to not only come closer but also establish a stronger bond with the gymnast’s fans. And her mother isn’t one to not laud the community for their vigilance.
In the days after the conclusion of the 33rd Olympic Games in Paris, the 23-year-old was struck with an unexpected notification from the IOC. The directive stated that Chiles would need to return her floor exercise bronze medal. The details of the decision didn’t sit well with the community, and they made their dissatisfaction clear. Now, Gina Chiles has finally found the time to return the gesture.

Simone Biles’ BFF’s mom took to X on September 30 to note her thanks to the fans for their continued support of Jordan’s cause. “Thanks for going hard for Jordan. We see you and appreciate ya,” the gymnast’s mom wrote on her social media update. The explosion that erupted across social media over the CAS (Court of Arbitration for Sports) decision prompted Jordan to take herself away from cyberspace. During all those tumultuous times, the community members never waivered from their vehement arguments against the IOC and the CAS.

The authorities claimed that Chiles’ inquiry wasn’t raised within the 1-minute mark, and hence her adjusted score was invalid to begin with. On the other hand, the court hearings kept giving rise to controversial facts, and fans used the same to amplify their voices. The collective sentiment that stood in Chiles’ corner also assured the gymnast’s family that they weren’t alone in their fight.

Jordan’s sibling Jazmin also claimed there were bigger powers at play in the whole fiasco. It was also easy to see that Gina was distraught seeing the criticism coming at her daughter. “My daughter is a highly decorated Olympian with the biggest heart and a level of sportsmanship that is unmatched. And she’s being called disgusting things,” she fumed, with Jazmin by her side. But slowly, things are looking bright again.
Hordes of supporters rallied to Chiles’ cause
The Jordan Chiles drama brought significant attention from the global community. US Democratic Representative Stephen Cohen took it upon himself to write to the CAS to reconsider the facts in the matter, while gymnastics icon Nadia Comaneci noted how such an issue can severely impact the athletes’ mental well-being.

Chiles, along with tennis legend John McEnroe’s brother Patrick, urged that the matter be resolved by presenting all the stars involved with bronze medals. Jordan’s bestie Biles also took to social media to seek justice for her national teammate. But all the clamor seems to have dulled down in Chiles’ ears.
She resurfaced on social media and even noted that she was finally going to move on from the troubles in her life. Moreover, she has again hit the road with her national teammates for the Gold Over America Tour, as the squad visits several cities across the country to bring pop-styled shows to the fans. However, behind the scenes, her fight against the IOC is yet to reach a conclusion. But will Chiles see calmer days ahead? Only time will tell!
