The 2023 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships were a culmination of “all the feels”. On this world stage, Team USA in particular shone. And the brightest star on the team was?Simone Biles. Biles made history like it was no big deal, many times throughout the event. She led the charge for Team USA, winning their seventh consecutive World Title. Then she became the only woman to ever claim her sixth All-Around title. She even broke the record for the most decorated gymnast. On Sunday, the 8th of October, the final day of the competition, Biles won two more gold medals and set another historic record.

However, just a day prior to this, at the Vault and Uneven Bars finals on Saturday, the 26-year-old faced massive competition from last year’s AA champion, Rebeca Andrade of Brazil. Andrade kept Biles on her toes throughout the competition. But on October 7th, Saturday, she broke the GOAT?s winning streak of 2023, claiming the gold medal in the vault finals. After more than a week of intense competition and rivalry on the field of play, a heart-warming and truly wholesome moment has come right from the Antwerp of these two stars together.

A post on X by a handle called Naty wrote, “calma a? a simone biles passando a coroa pra rebeca andrade meus amigos #GinasticaNoSportv,” which translates to “Calm down, Simone Biles passing the crown to Rebeca Andrade, my friends.”? The video was touching and spoke volumes. Biles, the greatest, symbolically passed her crown to Andrade, signifying a passing of the torch to the next generation.

Despite hailing from different countries, age groups, and levels of experience, this gesture showcased the camaraderie of gymnastics. This moment unfolded at the same podium where just a day earlier, Andrade had surpassed Biles as the World Champion on the vault. However, this time, the setting, event, and story were different.

How Biles made history once more in 2023

This moment was captured on Apparatus Finals Day 2, the final day of the competition. Biles took home the gold with a total score of 14.800 ?with an execution score of 8.300 and a difficulty score of 6.500, while Zhou Yaqin of China claimed the silver with a total score of 14.700. Rebeca Andrade of Brazil took home the bronze medal with a score of 14.300. ?Then, like a true star, Biles continued to make history on the floor exercise finals.

She secured her fourth gold medal at the 2023 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in the floor exercise finals, achieving a score of 14.633. In doing so, she also claimed her sixth World Championship Title on the floor, becoming the only gymnast to achieve such a feat. Rebeca Andrade of Brazil took home the silver medal with a score of 14.500, and Flavia Saraiva, also of Brazil, earned the bronze with a score of 13.966. This moment captured the hearts of fans worldwide, not just Americans and Brazilians.
