As a result, Carey was added to the field. Carey embraced the opportunity and gave her all in the finals of the vault and floor exercise. Unfortunately, the vault final started on a rough note for Carey as she encountered a misstep during her routine. However, she did not give up but despite her best efforts; she finished last by a considerable margin.
Even after despair, Carey remained resilient and determined. After a night that she would rather forget, she made an astonishing comeback in the floor exercise final. Her stunning performance earned her a remarkable score of 14.366, securing the Olympic gold the following night.
