Jordan Chiles has achieved quite a lot at a young age. She has multiple NCAA championships under her belt from her time at UCLA, a team gold medal at the World Championships, and a team silver at the 2020 Olympic Games. But she’s not stopping there as she trains rigorously to hopefully clinch the gold at next year’s Olympics in Paris.

However, it seems that the budding gymnast has other interests apart from gymnastics as well. Chiles talked about her amazing experience at The Greatest Spectacle in Racing, a couple of months ago.

Chiles’ experience at the Indy 500

The Indianapolis 500, also known as “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing,” attracts more than just racing enthusiasts. Each year, the event witnesses a star-studded lineup of celebrities and athletes. This year Olympic silver medalist joined a bunch of A-listers and sports icons alike. This year, Chiles not only attended the event but also got the opportunity to ride in a two-seater at the famed Indy 500. In an interview with The Spun, Chiles said,?“Just the knowledge and understanding of taking left turns at literally 210 mph is outrageous.”

She revealed that it was a very cool experience for her and she now gives applause to all drivers who go on race tracks. She joked that it must be alien for people to see a gymnast in a car. However, Chiles claimed that her love for cars is a shared passion with her dad since her childhood. The experience at the Indy 500 allowed her to witness her passion for close and personal, filling her with excitement. While she was being asked questions, one particular question was about Gabby Douglas. How her return to elite gymnastics will affect Chiles and the 22-year-old expressed her opinions on what Douglas’ decision means for the sport.

Chiles believes having Douglas back on the scene is an uplifting and powerful development. If Doulas qualifies for the Olympics, at age 27 she will be the oldest gymnast on the U.S. Team. The UCLA star is also equally excited about the return of Simone Biles and Sunisa Lee, who are also making their triumphant return to the sport.
