From Pommel Horse to Quickstep—Is Stephen Nedoroscik the most versatile athlete of our time?

Stephen Nedoroscik is setting the Dancing with the Stars stage on fire, and now people are buzzing that he could be the next Olympic gold medalist in men’s floor routine by 2028. But before his smooth moves stole the show on DWTS, Nedoroscik had some serious business to handle at one of the toughest Olympic outings in Paris.

After the Olympics hype, Stephen Nedoroscik decided to switch things up and try his hand (or should we say feet?) at dancing. Signing up for Dancing with the Stars seemed like a wild choice, but with his first few performances earning applause from both fans and judges, it was clear he wasn’t there just to make up the numbers. Then came his third performance, which really got people talking.

Dressed to the nines in a champagne-colored suit that matched his dance partner Rylee Arnold, Stephen Nedoroscik was serving style with his signature curly hair on full display. The duo delivered a smooth quickstep to Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition,” and the internet lost its mind. One fan, under the username KaMorian, summed up the vibe perfectly on X, posting, “STEPHEN WAS FEELING THEM CURLS !!!!! THIS WAS SUCH A FUN, SMOOTH, QUICKSTEP. BUT HE STILL KINDA LOSING A BIT ON THE TIMING. BUT WHAT A GREAT FIRST BALLROOM DANCE FROM MY POMMEL HORSE KING !!!!!”

Derek Hough loved the energy and tricks, though he did point out that Stephen Nedoroscik’s frame needed some work. Bruno and Carrie Ann agreed he had timing issues, sometimes rushing ahead of the beat. But despite the critiques, Stephen and Rylee walked away with solid scores—eights and sevens, making a total of 30 out of 40.

Stephen Nedoroscik’s smooth moves have been setting the stage alight, with a Superman-themed paso doble also turning heads in earlier weeks. Known for his Clark Kent-like look, the internet affectionately dubbed him the “Clark Kent of gymnastics,” and his quickstep performance had netizens gushing about his bright future on the dance floor.

Have an interesting take?

How many times have you seen a gymnast absolutely owning the dance floor? Sure, the GOAT Simone Biles gave it a shot back in 2017 on Dancing with the Stars, but even she couldn’t stir up as much buzz as Stephen Nedoroscik is doing right now. He’s out there dancing like he’s been doing it his whole life, and after his latest performance, fans are officially hooked. People can’t help but notice how effortlessly he glides across the floor.

One fan on X couldn’t hold back their excitement and made a bold prediction: “Stephen Nedoroscik for 2028 Olympic Floor Champ!!! He already has the leaps down!” With how he’s moving, it’s hard to argue! Remember, this is the same guy who pulled off Pommel Horse heroics in Paris, becoming the only American male gymnast to qualify for an apparatus final. During the team finals, with Team USA starting their last rotation on still rings and wrapping up on pommel horse, Stephen had to wait two and a half hours for his turn. No sweat, though.

When it was time to deliver, Stephen Nedoroscik nailed a score of 14.866, helping Team USA snag their first men’s gymnastics team medal since 2008—a bronze! No wonder they call him the “Clark Kent” of gymnastics. Now, while pommel horse is his bread and butter, his dance moves have fans thinking he might just have a never-before-seen trick up his sleeve for LA 2028. The buzz about his future has everyone talking, but it’s not just his athletic talent getting noticed.

One fan hilariously pointed out a resemblance between Nedoroscik and a Nickelodeon character, saying, “He looks like Robbie from Victorious lmao.” They’re not wrong! With those curly locks, you can kind of see the likeness to Matt Bennett’s character from Victorious. But let’s not forget that while Stephen’s taking home the praise, his partner, Rylee Arnold, deserves her flowers too. Rylee’s no stranger to the spotlight, having already won the junior version of DWTS.

One fan summed it up perfectly: “Amazing Rylee is really shining with a Gifted Partner Well Done.” The chemistry between these two is undeniable, and it’s showing in their performances. And because no internet moment is complete without some good ol’ humor, another fan couldn’t resist making a playful comment: “Where he find one of Ice Spice wigs at??” They were, of course, referring to Stephen Nedoroscik’s signature curly hair, which has people comparing it to the natural baby curls Ice Spice, the rapper, rocks on stage. Gotta love it when dance meets pop culture!

Jokes aside, Stephen Nedoroscik’s performances are turning heads for more than just fun. His dedication to the craft is insane. He revealed that he actually trained in high heels before his paso doble routine, which, for someone who’s always in flats, is a pretty bold move. In his own words, it almost tore his calves from the pain, but Nedoroscik powered through and delivered a 22/30 performance. That’s commitment! So whether it’s dancing or gymnastics, Stephen Nedoroscik is making sure fans can’t take their eyes off him.
