Although the world of digital media and content creation is no stranger to the wrath of trolling, for Chloe San Jose, it was her love for Carlos Yulo that lured these unwelcome guests into her life. However, clapping back would mean giving them too much brain space and energy, which Chloe San Jose is in no mood for. Thus, the Gen Z sensation is betting all her bucks on being unbothered!

Speaking to Nylon Manila exclusively, Carlos Yulo’s girlfriend, Chloe San Jose, was asked to elucidate what ‘protecting your peace’ meant to her. That’s when the native Australian replied, “Protecting my peace means to me that I will cut off people who are not respecting the peace that I’m making for myself, doing things na nagbibigay peace sa akin like my content, spending time with people that I love.” 

Chloe San Jose added how she’d rather do things that make her feel a sense of calm, like creating content or simply being with her loved ones, than give her trolls even an ounce of her energy. Carlos Yulo’s partner also surfaced aspirations of wanting to ‘give back to others’ probably through social and charitable means, which is something she associates with bliss. Or rather, just spending some quiet time with herself, engrossed in self-reflection.

Well, for someone who lives the life of a social media hustler, Chloe San Jose’s persona seems like someone who’d much rather prioritize her peace over escalation. But that hardly means she isn’t as expressive. In fact, in a recent podcast, she confessed to going overboard with overwhelmed the minute she saw her beau Carlos Yulo perform in the Olympic Finals.

She said, “I don’t know how to contain myself at that time. When I saw him on the floor, I was like, Oh my God! I really cried.” People turning back may have judged her at the moment, but it’s not every day that someone you adore creates national history, is it? Yet, the backlash has continued on and off, to the point when she was trolled for standing up for her man.

When she took a stand for Carlos Yulo amid his heated controversy with his mother, they questioned: Why is she taking a stand? She’s not his wife. But, all Chloe San Jose did was, “I’m just really standing up.” And well, this comes at a time when she felt that the gymnast wasn’t doing good enough to defend himself. This is why she took it upon herself to put the truth out. “I can’t see that he’s [Carlos] doing that. To me, it’s not okay. That’s wrong,” Chloe remarked.

But did the trolls cease to attack her? No. They labeled her fame-hungry until she gave the perfect response back. “I was able to build a name way before I met Carlos. I did music and content creation.” But the hate train has just persisted. Even when her interview with the Nylon Magazine surfaced and she said that it was an honor to speak about ‘mental health,’ a topic she truly holds close to her heart, people did not spare her from the negativity.

Some asked her to timeout the acting amid a severe storm Trami hitting the country, while another one asked, why is Carlos Yulo never around on her photoshoots, whereas she’s always there for his?
