Indiana Fever fans bit their nails in anticipation as Caitlin Clark and the squad lined up against the Connecticut Sun. In the David vs. Goliath clash, the Sun arrived as Goliath, having bested the Fevers three times in this season alone. Another loss would put Indiana Fever’s play-off chances in jeopardy. However, Wednesday night’s game turned out differently in Simone Biles and Gabby Thomas‘ presence.
With Team USA’s Olympic icons watching on, Clark and her teammates bested the Connecticut Sun 84-80. The win landed them in 7th position in the league, solidifying their playoff chances. However, the WNBA stars had one more surprise in store for them as Biles and Thomas greeted the women as they made their way to the locker room.
“The squad was ecstatic to meet Simone Biles and Gabby Thomas after our win at @GainbridgeFH (Gainbridge Fieldhouse),” the official Indiana Fever X-handle posted. Caitlin Clark and the rest of the Fever squad were awestruck to meet the two Olympians, who share 10 Olympic golds between them. The triumphant WNBA stars immediately transformed into fangirls.

Kelsey Mitchell, Victaria Saxton, Aliyah Boston, and others literally jumped with joy during their photo session with the gymnastics and tracks and field icon. Simone Biles herself took to social media to share the clip and congratulated her fellow athletes once more. “EVERYONE WATCHES WOMENS SPORTS. So happy to be able to go support! My first of many WNBA games,” the 27-year-old wrote.
Gabby Thomas also shared several Instagram stories ahead of and after the game’s high-octane contest. She also shared the clip Indiana Fever posted on their Instagram handle, as well as her still with Simone Biles and Caitlin Clark. The Indian Fever star also tanked the entire crowd at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in a press conference after their victory.
“I’m proud of our group… We came in very motivated, very excited for this game. I thought our crowd was honestly incredible,” said the 22-year-old icon. It was this incredible support that led Simone Biles to get excited about the future of women’s sports at large. After all, Biles played a pivotal role in the evolution of women’s sports in the Olympics.
How Simone Biles helped a viral tagline come full circle!
The 27-year-old Olympic legend Simone Biles isn’t the only one who used the “EVERYONE WATCHES WOMENS SPORTS” tagline. The tagline went viral in the USA at least a few months ago before spreading like wildfire during the Olympics. Scores of fans wore the $45 Togethxr t-shirts with the original English tagline and the French versions of the same to watch athletes such as Simone Biles make history.
Interestingly, WNBA legend Sue Bird, alongside soccer star Alex Morgan, 2x Winter Olympics gold medalist Chloe Kim and swimmer Simone Manuel, co-founded Togethxr. The company released the t-shirt with the slogan in December 2023. However, it first went viral ahead of the Olympics when University of South Carolina coach Dawn Staley sported it during a match in January.

So Simone Biles using the tagline to celebrate a WNBA team brings it full circle. Sue Bird described the viral slogan as a play on the phrase ‘No one watches women’s sports.’ while appearing on Jimmy Fallon. However, the t-shirt and the numbers tell a different story. 18 million tuned in to watch the 2024 NCAA. women’s basketball championship final.
Meanwhile, women’s gymnastics remains one of the most popular sports in the Olympics. Forbes reported that between 2021 and 2024, women’s sports revenue grew by a whopping 32%. So it’s no surprise that the Indiana Fever game with Biles and Thomas in the stands is making headlines.
