Is Stephen Nedoroscik the hero male gymnastics needs to finally step out of the shadows?

After a stellar Paris Olympics campaign, Stephen Nedoroscik is on a quest to find his groove. While his Team USA mates are spreading mesmerizing magic across the country with the Gold Over America Tour, Nedoroscik is showing his skills on the dance floor. Joining hands with Rylee Arnold, the Penn State alum is enthralling fans at the 33rd season of Dancing With The Stars and dominating competition just like he stomps over opponents on the pommel horse. And his dancing partner also thinks this would help Nedoroscik’s colleagues as well.

During their time at the show together, both Nedoroscik and Arnold have been getting to learn about each other’s profession more intensively. But he’s also understanding that dancing isn’t a walk in the park. Instead, his newfound love for the activity is making him respect Arnold’s life all the more. On the other hand, the pro dancer believes Nedoroscik’s toil won’t go unrewarded.

The 19-year-old recently sat down for an interview with Lightweights Podcast with Joe Vulpis to talk about her impression after seeing the Olympian, Stephen Nedoroscik, for the first time, and their friendship has grown over the weeks. In the YouTube upload from September 16, Arnold also talked about how Nedoroscik’s commendable decision to try out dancing is also helping the male gymnasts as a whole. “It is so amazing that Stephen is representing the male gymnasts,” Rylee lauded her DWTS partner vehemently.

With that, she also mentioned that male gymnastics often fly by the radar while their female colleagues bask in the spotlight. Acknowledging that the USA’s female gymnastics stars deserve all the praise and attention, Arnold further said, “…male gymnasts are very overlooked and a lot of people just focused on the female gymnasts. They are amazing so like, yes. But they [male gymnasts] get overlooked.

During the conversation, Rylee also mentioned how the lack of attention also prompts many institutes from the country to view male gymnasts as the less important stars of the sport. “A lot of their programs are cut in college and the NCAA has a hard time continuing to let the male gymnasts like do their thing. So I think it’s so awesome that Stephen is the first and he could represent for the male gymnast, and I really think he is going to make a huge change in the male gymnast industry,” she gushed. But it wasn’t a rash decision on Nedoroscik’s part.

A different side of the Olympic gymnast

Just days ago, during a Spotify interview, the ex-Nittany Lions gymnast’s mom, Cheryl, revealed how her son had a knack for trying out new things from an early age. “I think he wants to be…not a perfectionist, but he likes to dabble in all sorts of different activities, whether it be at school or using his athleticism to try dancing. He likes to experiment and just to perfect what he is trying to. He’s game for anything,” she said about Stephen’s unyielding mentality.

While Stephen Nedoroscik seems to be enjoying his time on the dance floor, he is also taking the opportunity to make a gymnastics fan out of Arnold. The Superman-lookalike gymnast’s national teammates visited the DWTS camp and together they tried their best to give Arnold a taste of what it takes to perform at the highest level of the sport.

On the other hand, the efforts to bring more exposure to male gymnastics are being beefed up on all fronts. Simone Biles noted that the decision to bring the Team USA male stars on board was taken as a measure to make more fans understand how they are just as important for the national team’s international success and dominance. “We took a risk by bringing the guys on board, the GOAT told NBC Washington.
