Simone Biles and Jordan Chiles: The ultimate power duo in sports and style?

It looks like Jordan Chiles is finally putting her Parisian misfortune in the rearview mirror. One day at a time. And she’s taking cues from gymnastics bestie Simone Biles to return back to normalcy. The country’s most decorated gymnast of all time Biles attended the ongoing US Open on September 4, and her WCC buddy is also following in the same footsteps.

In her recent Instagram story from September 5, the UCLA Bruins gymnast shared a brief snippet of her visit to the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, New York. From the looks of it, Chiles attended the women’s semifinal matches. The Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka took on the USA’s Emma Navarro (which the latter lost 6-3, 7-6) and Chiles might have cheered for the American star despite the result.

However, it’s not just attending the US Open that’s on the itinerary for Chiles during her visit to New York. The New York Fashion Week will commence on September 6, and the celebrity gymnast has been working hard on her looks while also enjoying the things the bustling city has to offer. In a previous IG story, Chiles shared with her fans how Cheetos have become a part of her guilty pleasure diet while in NYC. However, before hopping on the red carpet, it looks like Chiles is getting some action away from her natural habitat.

Justifiably, having two Olympian gymnasts in the stands is a surreal moment for tennis fans and even the official US Open Insta account couldn’t suppress the excitement. “Spotted: @jordanchiles cheering on the women semifinalists tonight,” reads the caption of a post by the US Open account on the social media platform from September 5. In the accompanying video, Chiles can be seen cheering for the American tennis star as the former raises the heat with a red wine-colored suit and a pearl necklace. While tennis fans revel at how the Olympic gold medalist showed up for the tournament, gymnastics followers have their own reasons to feel good for Chiles.

Jordan Chiles looks at brighter days ahead after tumultuous career moment

The chaos that erupted after the women’s artistic gymnastics finals in Paris last month had a significant impact on Jordan Chiles’ career. The American gymnast initially secured a bronze medal in the women’s Floor Exercise after her coach, Cecile Landi, raised an inquiry that resulted in Chiles receiving an additional one-tenth of a point. This adjustment allowed Chiles to edge out Romania’s Ana Barbosu and claim a spot on the podium. However, fate had other plans. Just five days later, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) and the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) determined that Landi’s inquiry was submitted beyond the allowed 1-minute time frame. As a result, Chiles’ adjusted score was nullified, and she was instructed to return the bronze medal to Barbosu.

The American gymnastics community rallied behind Chiles without a second thought and brought up the fact that the judges at the Paris Games missed out on scoring one of her moves in the first place. This, they argued, made it necessary to raise the inquiry by Team USA’s head coach Landi. Even US Democratic representative Stephen Cohen and former tennis star Patrick McEnroe clearly noted that Chiles shouldn’t be vilified for something that isn’t even her fault. However, a peaceful solution couldn’t be reached and Chiles decided to take herself away from social media to process her loss while her family members continued to hit back at the people who alleged that Chiles cheated at the Olympic final.
