Is Simone Biles the greatest athlete of our generation, or is there someone better?

Paris-bound Simone Biles may have gymnastics skills named after her, but won’t mind a few more. In fact, the 7x Olympic medalist would be quite happy if she got one in a completely different sport. The 5x Olympic gold medalist expressed her desire most amusingly during an interview with U.S. swimming icon Missy Franklin.

The duo of champions appeared in a fun-filled interview on the Laureus YouTube channel. Biles and Franklin discussed how the 21x World Championships medalist could get a skill named after her in swimming. While answering which element of swimming Biles would do well in, she hilariously described the breaststroke as “froggy.”

“I just think it would be the easiest for me to maybe potentially do is to do a little froggy,” said the 2024 Olympic Trials winner. Missy Franklin made the right guess only because Biles made hand gestures that replicated the breaststroke. However, the champion gymnast said she would make it her own. “Every time I do it my one leg goes in and then I kick it out so I got like my own style,” Simone Biles said in the YouTube video.

After hearing her hilarious suggestion, Franklin suggested Biles would “absolutely win” the event if she created the stoke. The suggestion prompted the 2023 world champion to say, “I get it named after me.” Franklin burst into laughter because the gymnastic GOAT has two vaults, the Biles and Biles II aka, the Yurchenko double pike named after her.

Her namesake skill on the balance beam is a double-double dismount consisting of two twits and flips. Finally, on floor exercise, Simone Biles has a double layout with a half-twist in the second flip. Meanwhile, the Biles II is also called the triple-double. However, Missy Franklin’s answer to the same question was no less hilarious than Biles’s.

Simone Biles’ sport terrified Missy Franklin

Simone Biles may not be the most knowledgeable person when it comes to swimming. However, 29-year-old Missy Franklin is afraid of everything except the floor exercise in gymnastics. The 6x Olympic medalist chose floor because she “would have a chance of not dying,” unlike other skills. The swimmer explained that every other skill involves a risk of falling on her face.

However, since floor exercise is done on a flat surface with the flexibility to absorb impact, she would feel face. The former Olympic gold medalist also felt confident because she loves to dance. If Franklin couldn’t nail any of the skills she would just start dancing to the music. Unfortunately, doing so might not fetch her good scores from the judges.

While the questions and how both athletes answered them were hilarious, it showed Simone Biles’ mindset. Despite already conquering her sport, the 27-year-old Olympian is still hungry to do better.
