Is the IOC's decision a slap in the face to gymnastics fairness and integrity?

Two months after the gymnastics floor finals, Jordan Chiles is still riding the wild ups and downs of the Paris Olympics medal controversy! the floor finals, Romania’s Ana Barbosu snagged the bronze medal, but then came the plot twist: her coaches appealed, and suddenly, Jordan found herself holding that shiny medal, overwhelmed with emotion—tears and all. Ana Barbosu proudly received her bronze medal at a ceremony in Romania shortly after the Paris Olympics concluded. However, that didn’t budge Jordan Chiles from her stance on her own medal. Despite the IOC’s order for her to return it, Jordan remains resolute in her decision to keep it and has taken the matter to the Swiss Federal Tribunal. And guess what? Her teammates are rallying behind her, showing some serious support. Especially her Paris Olympics roommate!

Amidst all this, Suni Lee decided to lighten the mood. In an interview with Glamour, she shared, “I’ve just been trying to make sure that she’s okay, and she realizes that she’s absolutely amazing and nothing is going to define her.” Then, when the interviewer joked about the IOC needing to go through Suni to get the medal back, she quipped, “I’d throw it in the ocean or something,” followed by a laugh. She said, “All this talk about the athlete; what about the judges?? Completely unacceptable. This is awful, and I’m gutted for Jordan.” She added, “I got your back forever, Jo. [You have all my flowers and you will ALWAYS be an Olympic champion.💐” Suni’s message made it clear that no matter what happens, she’s in Jordan’s corner.

But Suni wasn’t alone in showing her support either! Big names like Simone Biles, Aly Raisman, and LeBron James all came out to show their support for Jordan. And let’s not forget the fans who rallied behind her since day one. Jordan and her family were feeling the love, and her mom even took to X to express her gratitude.

But while she was trying to weather the storm, all her friends and supporters backed her and made sure to let her know that she was not alone in her fight.

To acknowledge this support, Jordan Chiles’ mother took to X to show them how grateful the gymnast and her whole family are to their supporters. While they were dealt with tough cards here, the gymnastics community never gave up on her. Gina Chiles wrote, “Thanks for going hard for Jordan. We see you and appreciate ya,” This acknowledgment was crucial in helping Jordan move on from the heartbreak she was facing in this chapter of her life.
