The gymnastics world is yet again abuzz with excitement. And this time, it is Rebeca Andrade taking center stage. Andrade, who turned heads winning gold at the Paris Olympics, is turning them all over again! This time, too, in style. But not on the mats! As the most successful Brazilian gymnast, it comes as no surprise that Andrade made it to the cover of Vogue Brazil! And guess what? It was her second time slaying on the cover. As the air filled with love, an American gymnast was quick to react!
Earlier today, Vogue Brazil took to Instagram and posted an unseen picture from the new edition. The caption read, “Upon taking the podium for the fourth and final time at the Paris 2024 Olympics – and receiving the first gold medal for her solo performance – the gymnast was the protagonist of one of the most emblematic images in the history of sport.” Right on, Vogue! When Rebeca Andrade won the gold in floor exercise, she did it, beating the queen of gymnastics. Simone Biles ended up winning silver, while Jordan Chiles won the now-controversial bronze on that holy night. “Three women, black athletes, occupying a space where previously it was rare to see even one black person, imagine three!” read one of Rebeca’s excerpts for the interview. Reading about the iconic moment combined with the pictures, Suni Lee couldn’t help but gush.
Suni Lee, who was teammates with Biles and Chiles at the Olympics, went on to comment, “Amazing!!!!”. The love showered not just from Lee but from athletes and fans around the world. The comments section saw love from big names, including Gabriela Braga Guimarães. Even Rebeca’s Paris teammate, Flávia Lopes Saraiva, couldn’t help but gush about the iconic cover. Although the new cover remains an iconic one, it took Rebeca 18 years to first appear on the cover.

After 18 years on the mat, it was when she turned 22 that this iconic event came along. But even in the moment of glitz and glam, she went on to say, “We did it. At no point did I think that I had made history alone. This was an achievement for Brazilian gymnastics, for my colleagues, for my family, for my coach.
