Sunisa Lee has finally got some relief. After losing access to her X account recently, she has finally got it back. For the uninitiated, the Tokyo Olympics’ all-around champion’s X account suddenly saw her selling Macbooks. It was informed to her fans that Lee was doing so as part of a fundraiser. As per Lee’s latest update, she apparently had 10 MacBook Pros that she wanted to sell for $600. As an added perk, Suni Lee’s post also mentioned the MacBooks being signed by her, making their value go up significantly.
Initially, some of her fans fell for the scam. But soon, people realized that her account was hacked and Lee was not running any such fundraisers. Lee herself posted a Snapchat story informing her fans of the hacking. She also asked everyone to report the account. Luckily for the Olympian, after trying hard for the last few days, Lee was finally able to retrieve her X account. Taking to her account, the Olympic gold medalist wrote, “omg guys finally got my twitter back.”
Now, apparently, it would seem bizarre why hackers would target Lee’s account. But the truth is, Suni Lee is slowly growing a fanbase where names like Beyonce and Hailey Beiber are becoming her fans. Following her gold rush in Tokyo, Lee was subjected to a lot of trolls. People took shots at her, saying that she was unworthy of the all-around title and only won it because Simone Biles withdrew.

Adding to her woes, Lee was diagnosed with a complicated kidney disease. This almost had her quit her professional career. Thankfully, bringing out the champion that she truly was, Lee toiled hard and qualified for Paris. On a quest to prove her haters wrong, the Auburn gymnast contributed significantly to helping Team USA win the Team gold medal. She also went on to win two more bronze medals, making her outing in the French capital a grand success.

Her spectacular show made her the third-most decorated American gymnast in Olympic history behind Shannon Miller and Simone Biles, which began to garner Suni Lee a lot of eyes in public. Having proved her worth as a champion, Lee is now receiving a lot of support. And while the average Joe has always been coming up to Lee, the gymnast had a shocker waiting for her. Speaking with Caroline Fenton on Yahoo Sports recently, Lee narrated how, in one instance, Hailey Bieber recognized her.
And if that was not all, Lee was starstruck by her childhood hero, Beyonce, recently. Attending Glamour Magazine’s Women of the Year alongside Allyson Felix, Serena Williams, and more, Lee caught a glimpse of Beyonce. However, looking at her being surrounded by fans and other people, the Olympian withdrew her urge to strike up a conversation. That was until Beyonce came up to Lee and exchanged pleasantries.

Although most netizens did understand the fact it was a fraud, they did not miss the opportunity to humorously express their thoughts. But there were a few who probably believed it was legitimate. Regaining access to her X account after the hacking incident, Suni was indeed overwhelmed. Acknowledging her reaction, one fan added, “Welcome back! You must be so happy you’re doing backflips right now.” The fan playfully suggested that because Lee is overjoyed, she might be celebrating her return online by doing backflips. Such a thought from the fan’s forum is quite justified. After all, she is the gymnastics Olympic gold medalist!
Thus, while the hacking incident was surely a headache for Suni Lee, her rising popularity is also a positive sign both for the gymnast as well as for the development of female gymnastics in the future.
