With her documentary's success, is Simone Biles redefining what it means to be a sports icon?

The Gold Over America Tour might have ended, but that doesn’t mean Simone Biles doesn’t have anything else to keep her spirits high. One among those gleeful things would undoubtedly be her latest meetup with husband Jonathan Owens during the Bears match against the New England Patriots. After months of spending time apart for their career responsibilities, Biles and her husband got to spend some time together today, albeit the gymnast had to spend most of the time watching the NFL star in action. However, there’s more to tickle Biles’ fancy.

2024 has been a great year for Biles so far. After reclaiming her high throne at the Paris Olympics and proving her worth beyond a shred of doubt, Simone once again hit the road soon. The second edition of the Gold Over America Tour amalgamated gymnastics and storytelling to create a mesmerizing experience for the fans. Now as the dust settles, Biles once again has some great news coming her way.

The official Critics Choice Awards’ X account shared the latest feat of the Houston native via an update. “Congratulations to “Simone Biles Rising!” Winner of the Critics Choice Documentary Award for BEST LIMITED DOCUMENTARY SERIES!” read the caption of the social media post along with a graceful-looking image of Biles on November 10, right after the awards were presented.

The second season of the Netflix docu-series is yet to drop, but being acknowledged even before that by the prestigious award ceremony is something that deserves all the applause. Back in October, the gymnastics icon exclaimed her happiness at the Netflix documentary Simone Biles: RISING bagging a best sports documentary nomination at the 2024 Critics Choice Awards. ‘My jaw just dropped,” Biles had said about the nomination, and for a good reason!

And now, as the ninth annual Critics Choice Documentary Awards concluded on Sunday night, Simone Biles had another reason to be jubilant about. The news came just in time to help Biles overcome the post-GOAT blues. While fans would argue that Simone finally has the time to spend with her husband once again, gymnastics connoisseurs know that missing the action is a very real feeling that can bring down even the best of athletes.

Welp, what a tough week,” wrote Biles in her recent social media post, underscoring how spending two months on the road with her national teammates gave her time to remember and how she was feeling sad that no more of the shows would be keeping her on the toes. While the pop-styled show enthralled the fans during the last couple of months, it’s not like Biles isn’t getting anything to keep the smile on her face intact. On November 6, Biles and Owens were spotted at a Chicago Bulls game, and the folks over at the Bulls camp made sure to celebrate having the 7x Olympic medalist in their midst with a post on social media.

While the Bears conceded a heavy loss to the Patriots (19-3), Biles seemed to have a great time nonetheless. Her Instagram stories are filled with all the fun she had with her companions at the Soldier Field. Moreover, Simone seems to have finally found the perfect wardrobe choice to wear to Owens’ matches, as she showed off her Bears-themed hoodie with pride. But undoubtedly, the shootout from the Critics Choice Awards will be the highlight of her week.
