Is Stephen Nedoroscik's Olympic dedication hurting his chances on 'Dancing with the Stars' with Rylee Arnold?

We will soon get to“the Pommel Horse guy,” Stephen Nedoroscik showcasing his finesse on Dancing With The Stars. After helping the U.S. men’s gymnastics team to end their 16-year team and eight-year individual medal drought, Nedoroscik is set to dazzle on reality TV, and his appearance on the Emmys red carpet suggests he is more than ready to embrace the stardom.

The “Clark Kent” of gymnastics will be part of the 33rd season which kicks off on September 17. Nedoroscik will be paired with the talented American dancer Rylee Arnold. The duo is already bonding during their practice sessions, with Nedoroscik also teaching Arnold a few moves on the pommel horse. However, in the lead-up to the show, there is one habit of the gymnast that his dance partner thinks he should ease up on.

On a Lightweights Podcast with Joe Vulpis on September 15, Rylee Arnold gave some insight into her 25-year-old dance partner from Worcester, Massachusetts. Despite his impressive gymnastics skills, Nedoroscik is still finding his rhythm on the dance floor. According to Rylee, it’s his relentless drive that shines through: “He knows that it’s not going to be super easy right off the bat he knows he’s going to have to put in the work he’s going to put in extra time.” She also mentioned how the Olympian studies his rehearsal videos and tries to fix the shortcomings the next day.

But when the host asked Arnold, which of them is hard on themselves, she said while she can be demanding at times, Nedoroscik “is pretty hard on himself.” The professional dancer revealed that he’s quick to spot mistakes, even the ones she might miss, which she admires, but sometimes finds a bit intense.

“He’ll point out things and I’m like wait I didn’t know you messed that up, but like good catch. But it’s to the point where it’s just like he’s hard on himself and I’m just like just do it. Just like let it out and dance it and it’ll come when it needs to,” she said. Meanwhile, the gymnast is excited about his new venture for a hilarious reason.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Nedoroscik referring to his legs and feet said, “I’m excited to get it, you know? I don’t use these at all. So it’s about time they get the spotlight.” The pommel horse usually involves one using their “core and upper body,” he told EW. Embracing the glitz and glamor that comes with participating in a popular show like DWTS, Nedoroscik showed up at the 2024 Emmys on September 15 along with his girlfriend Tess McCracken.

Nedoroscik was wearing a dapper suit, bowtie, and his iconic signature glasses while his girlfriend shone in a strapless black Jovani gown, strappy heels, and a matching clutch. While on the red carpet, Nedoroscik was also questioned about his preparation for Dancing With the Stars. He replied, “It’s all very new to me. I’m not a dancer, I’ve never danced before. So, the process of learning has been really tricky but I’ve a great teacher and it’s going super well.”

Despite the gymnast’s perfectionist streak, Rylee is confident that once he loosens up, everything will fall into place. Meanwhile, as Rylee gets Nedoroscik ready to light up the dance stage, he’s not only learning new moves. He’s turned coach to the maestro Rylee Arnold himself, but not in dance.
