Stephen Nedoroscik on DWTS—Will his gymnastics skills give him an edge over the competition?

Stephen Nedoroscik became a national hero after leading Team USA to a bronze medal in male gymnastics at the Olympics. This was the first time in 16 years that they had done that. He had performed a pommel horse in the final team event, helping them clinch the medal. Now, he has decided to tread waters on reality TV. Nedoroscik is all set to appear in the ABC dance reality show Dancing with the Stars. He recently took to Instagram to confirm his participation by posting a picture with his dance partner, Rylee Arnold. He said, “Let’s GOOO so excited!!!”. But, before the start of the competition, some of his old friends surprised him.

Some of his teammates and other gymnastics stars recently met up with Stephen Nedoroscik for dinner before he started his campaign at DWTS. This includes Brody Malone and Frederick Richards, who were part of the US artistic all-around team alongside Stephen Nedoroscik, who went on to win the bronze medal.

Nedoroscik uploaded the video to his Instagram Story, where he showed everyone who was present at the table. He captioned the story with ‘WHOLE SQUAAAAD’. It seemed nice to see all the gymnasts meet up, which was hopefully to surprise the gymnast before his first ever reality show appearance. This came after his apparent resemblance to Clark Kent surging his popularity.

According to numerous people, the gymnast’s character is very similar to Clark Kent. He is a fictional character working as a journalist wearing ordinary glasses so that nobody knows his secret identity. In reality, he is everybody’s beloved superhero, Superman. When he’s in his Superman attire, he removes his glasses and shows just how powerful he is. Stephen Nedoroscik also wears similar glasses and looks shy and timid like Clark Kent. But, when he competes, he puts on a confident and brilliant show like Superman. This was evident when he performed the pommel horse in the finals. This is why many compare him to Superman.

However, his comparisons alongside a superhero and his extraordinary skills in the sport of gymnastics don’t mean he isn’t bothered about failure at the reality show. He has talked about how unpredictable the dancing stage really is.

Stephen Nedoroscik speaks about the challenges he faces entering Dancing with the Stars with a gymnastics background

All the contestants of the show were invited to an interview with Good Morning America. There, Stephen Nedoroscik was asked which pressure seemed harder to handle, the Paris Olympics or Dancing with the Stars? He answered diplomatically, where he acknowledged the difficulties of both. He said, “I mean, the Olympics are so stressful. It’s very difficult, but I’ve also never danced, so I’m really nervous about it. You never know what’s gonna happen. I guess I’m gonna find out when I step out onto the ballroom floor.”

Have an interesting take?

Adding to that, he also announced that he would be bringing some gymnastic moves to his dances during an interview. So, the competition is difficult, but he’ll try his best, it seems. He also might find solace in the fact that he is not the only athlete who will be appearing in Dancing with the Stars. Rugby player Ilona Maher will also be participating in it. She was also present during the interview. The Olympic bronze medalist was also asked the same question, but her reply was more confident.

She said, “I’ve been asked this a lot, and I am going to say the Olympics. Just because it was my life goal, but this is now going to be really tough. But I’ve gotten you know, did the Olympics, got the medal.” Her answer meant that if she could conquer Paris, why not this show? Obviously, it remains to be seen whether her confidence will actually result in great performances. But seeing two heavily successful Olympic athletes navigate the world of dancing is a mouthwatering prospect for reality TV.
