With stars like Snoop Dogg and Tom Cruise cheering her on, can Simone Biles be stopped in Paris?

Women’s gymnastics is racing with excitement, and so is our heartbeat! As Simone Biles gears up for her third Olympics, the anticipation is sky-high. And it’s not just us feeling the thrill- apparently, even vampires to singers, everyone is eager to be part of this gymnastics championship! Although it’s just the qualifying round, the excitement is through the roof.

A-list celebrities like Ariana Grande, Tom Cruise, Antoine Griezmann, Anna Wintour, and Snoop Dogg have all come out in droves. But the excitement doesn’t stop there! Even Nick Jonas, the American singer-songwriter and actor, joined in on the admiration. He shared a post on Instagram featuring Biles executing her vault routine with stunning precision. Jonas captioned the post, “Incredible, legend,” clearly showing that he’s a fan of Biles too!

Not to be outdone, athletes from various sports are also in the mix, proving it’s not just a game but a full-blown spectacle. Shaun White and his girlfriend Nina Dobrev, known for her iconic role as Elena Gilbert in The Vampire Diaries, were spotted in the stands this morning, July 27, just to watch a gymnastics event. USA Gymnastics took to their X to share the moment. “Just a few familiar faces starting their morning with Artistic Gymnastics at @Paris2024,” it wrote, hitting the nail on the head about their enthusiasm.

It captured Shaun and Nina clapping their hearts out in the stands. Nina was dressed to the nines in a white t-shirt and pants adorned with USA-themed designs and Olympic motifs, while Shaun sported a casual black t-shirt and shorts. Clearly, Nina’s passion for gymnastics remains as strong as ever.

Before becoming a star on her show and earning accolades for her performances, Nina Dobrev faced a crucial crossroads in her life. As a teenager, she had to choose between two of her passions: acting and gymnastics. She revealed this in 2015 in an interview with actor Michael Pena, Dobrev reflected on her gymnastics journey.

She began with rhythmic gymnastics, which she described as “gymnastic dancing,” involving dance and apparatus like ribbons and hoops, rather than the traditional beam and floor routines. Growing up in Canada, she dedicated three to four hours a day, six days a week, to her training. Ultimately, Dobrev had to weigh her future between the potential of pursuing gymnastics and the uncertainty of acting.

At 16, she chose acting, recognizing the possibility of a longer career. “It got to the point where I had to decide what I wanted to do: continue training for this and maybe go to the Olympics one day and make that my life until I’m 20 and then retire, or try to figure out acting, which is also very scary and unreliable and a lot of people don’t find success in it,” she explained. But it seems her passion for gymnastics remains at its peak, and perhaps witnessing Simone Biles’ new move in the Paris Olympics will lift her spirits.

What to expect at Paris from Simone Biles – A flawless new skill

Simone Biles is set to make waves at the Paris Olympics, aiming to add a sixth unique skill to her already impressive repertoire. This new move on the uneven bars, described by the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) as “a clear hip circle forward with 1 1/2 turns to handstand,” is a twist on a skill first performed by Canadian gymnast Wilhelm Weiler. If Biles pulls off this high-flying stunt, she’ll be the only active female gymnast to have a signature move on all four apparatuses – vault, floor exercise, balance beam, and uneven bars. Biles, who has already put her mark on two vault skills, two floor exercise moves, and one balance beam dismount, is ready to unveil this new trick at the beginning of her uneven bars routine. But it wouldn’t be so easy!

With other gymnasts also looking to make their mark also, Brazilian Rebeca Andrade is aiming for a Yurchenko triple twisting vault, while Dutch gymnasts Lieke Wevers and Naomi Visser are set to try a triple turn with one leg held horizontally on floor exercise. If both Dutch gymnasts hit their target, the move will carry their names. With four gold medals from Rio already under her belt and a Tokyo campaign cut short by “twisties,” Biles is ready to rise to the occasion and hit it out of the park once again.
