The women’s artistic gymnastics all-around team finale will be held on 30th July when sports afficionados across the globe will witness which country will take the gold home and emerge as de facto champions. Team USA is favored to win, especially following Simone Biles‘ injury that accidentally flared up during the Subdivision 2 qualifications a few days ago. Since Biles hasn’t retreated from the competition despite the medical issue, fans have high hopes for the team given her indomitable spirit. She’s not the only one, though. Our other four fiery contenders are rising up to the challenge as well and giving it their all, what with Jade Carey being unwell but still having her cake and eating it too.

Simone Biles is set to face off against a Brazilian spark-plug known as Rebeca Andrade. Theirs is a rivalry for the ages, literally and figuratively, as they are constantly trying to one up each other. However, the competition is not going to be easy. Eight teams, including the USA, have qualified through fair means and reached the finale. Simone Biles has undoubtedly become the face of the sport, but Rebeca Andrade‘s eventual entry to the scene has made things more interesting for any sports lover.

As Biles seems to be leading the scoreboard, her Brazilian counterpart is not far behind. The two have faced each other before at the World Championships and also spotted each other at the Tokyo Olympic games where Biles had withdrawn due to a case of twisties. There, Andrade asserted her dominance at the vault event, claiming gold so Biles will be looking to take back what’s rightfully hers.

Brazil’s first woman to win the gold medal at the vault was previously pitted against Simone Biles in Tokyo. Since that couldn’t happen back then, fans of the sport are hoping to see the two face off this year in Paris, which appears more than likely now and not just a distant pipe dream. The two may have prepared some new routines and moves to enhance their scores and increase their chances of winning. We have yet to see how that plays out. With Biles coming in  clutch with her YDP aka the Yurchenko Double Pike and Andrade’s clandestine “ruined” move known as the TTY – Triple-Twisting Yurchenko.
