Accompanying the video, the caption affectionately described the interaction as, “Love this video of Simone Biles and Jade Carey laughing with Simone clearly pivoting to talking shit as Jade laughs on,” highlighting not only their laughter but also their easy banter and mutual enjoyment of each other’s company. Although Carey may not match Biles’ scores, she recognizes that excelling in floor and vault could secure her spot on the Paris team. With a promising floor routine and a solid Cheng vault, despite a minor hop on landing, Carey impressively earned a score of 14.500–currently the highest of the night, second only to Biles’ iconic Yurchenko double pike. But their bond dates back to 2021.

At the Tokyo Olympics, Jade Carey showed her prowess in the all-around during qualifications, delivering flawless performances across all four routines. Securing spots in the vault final in second place behind Simone Biles and the floor exercise final in third place, Carey showed her skill on the world stage. Despite initially missing out on the all-around final due to two-per-country limitations, Biles’ withdrawal due to twisties opened the door for Carey to step in as the next-highest-scoring American. Reflecting on Biles’ support, Carey shared that Biles wished, “Good luck,’ and go out there, do the best I can and have fun.” And later Carey did make America proud.

In the all-around final, Carey excelled in vault and floor exercises, but a fall on the balance beam landed her in eighth place overall. In the vault final, a misstep on the runway led to a last-place finish after her first vault, but she redeemed herself with a strong second vault. However, deductions for repetition left her behind in the standings. The next day, she bounced back with a gold medal in the floor exercise final, surpassing her own qualifications and beating out Italy’s Vanessa Ferrari. The former scored a 14.366 and the latter a 14.200.
