Simone Biles takes another shot at Trump—Is she right to speak out or overstepping her bounds?

For the second time in 3 days, Simone Biles welcomed another glistening gold at Bercy Arena, taking her Olympic medal tally to 9. After her spectacular achievement, Biles donned a beautiful diamond goat-shaped pendant and dedicated it as an ode to her fans. Subsequently, she took to X, and one of her comments appeared to be a jab at the former President Donald Trump’s remarks.

Taking to X, Biles added, “I love my black job,” replying to singer Ricky Davila, who added her pictures after she won the all-around title in Paris. Davila had also written, “Simone Biles being the GOAT, winning Gold medals and dominating gymnastics is her black job.” Well, Biles’ reply tweet seemed to be related to one of Donald Trump’s remarks made in the June debate. As per NBC, addressing the role played by immigrants in the economy of their nation, he said, “They’re taking Black jobs now and it could be 18, it could be 19 and even 20 million people,” which triggered a row. And people demanded an explanation for what ‘a black job’ means.

And now that Biles has made this reference after her victory, her husband, Jonathan Owens, has come out in support of her. Taking to his Instagram story, he added a post showing Biles’ tweet and wrote, “I love my baby man,” with a laughing emoji and a black-colored heart. It is evident that Biles’ bold statements amuse him, and he always steps up to back her.

However, this won’t be the first time that Biles has commented on something related to Trump. This recent incident brings to mind the fire that lit up last year. What had happened?

Simone Biles’ heated fire back at Trump’s lawyer

In 2022, Simone Biles was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Joe Biden. She was honored for being a “prominent advocate for athletes’ mental health and safety.” Was this an average accolade? No. It is the highest civilian honor that can be given by the president, which added another layer to how Biles is a respected gymnast in her nation. However, things took a sudden turn on this merry occasion when former President Donald Trump’s lawyer, Jenna Ellis, sparked a fiery comment.

Have an interesting take?

Ellis apparently tweeted, “Fittingly, Biden awarded his presidential medals to fellow losers, Biles and Rapinoe.” This was also an uncalled-for lash out at Megan Rapinoe, a soccer player who won this award alongside Biles. But Biles did not stay silent. She added a tweet saying, “Who is Jenna Ellis? Asking for everyone.” And the matter just continued to escalate. As per Business Insider, Ellis also posted tweets shading Biles, calling her a ‘selfish quitter.’  She even struck back directly at Biles’ tweet with a Jack Sparrow GIF, played by Johnny Depp, which read, “But you have heard of me.”

But this was not the end of it. Ellis continued to comment, “baby stick to your landing and grow up.” And now, Biles makes another indirect reference to Donald Trump’s remarks. Well, this comes in shortly after she etched her name in history by bagging two all-around Olympic titles within a span of eight years, which makes her the first in 56 years to scale to such heights. And like always, she had her husband right by her as she achieved this feat. What do you think of Owen’s relentless support for his wife? Let us know.
