Magic is bound to happen when two powerhouses from different worlds collide. And that’s exactly what unfolded when the phenomenal Simone Biles delivered a jaw-dropping floor routine to the rhythm of Taylor Swift’s electrifying beats on day 1 of the U.S. Paris Olympics Trials. As Biles launched into her routine on the mat, the arena buzzed with anticipation. This just proved that Taylor Swift will never go out of style.

Opening with the dynamic beat of Swift’s ‘…Ready For It?’ from the iconic Reputation album, she pulled off a show on the floor that was nothing short of spectacular. Every flip, twist, and turn was perfectly timed to the music. The mesmerizing fusion of art and sport left judges and spectators in awe. And just when the world thought it couldn’t get any better, the routine crescendoed with Travis Scott’s and Beyoncé’s powerful track ‘Delresto (Echoes).’

Recently on X, NBC Olympics shared a clip of the same routine. The video was captioned, “…Ready for it? SIMONE BILES’ FLOOR ROUTINE 🤩 #USAGTrials24” While fans were already going gaga over Biles’ extraordinary moves, it caught the attention of the musical sensation herself whose song Biles showcased her gravity-defying stunts. Taylor Swift herself took to X. And sharing the NBC Olympics video clip she expressed her amazement. “Watched this so many times and still unready. “She’s ready for it tho👏👏👏🥇🇺🇸❤️.”, commented Taylor Swift. It’s not every day that the world’s greatest gymnast and a global pop superstar come together”, commented Swift.

Simone Biles debuted this routine in May, at the 2024 Core Hydration Classics. After unraveling the extraordinary routine on the floor, Biles shared with NBC how she never likes to prepare a new floor routine saying, “I actually hate learning a new floor routine, that’s the worst part for me. So, I just kind of let everybody pick whatever they wanted.”. However, her dedication and love for Swift’s songs ultimately resulted in the great composition. Biles added, “ Actually, my agent suggested Taylor Swift (and) then I found this Beyoncé song that I really liked and we kind of collabed it together … I do love Taylor Swift and I do love Beyoncé …. Those are my girls!” Swift, however has had a long-standing effect on Biles and they go way back. What heartwarming instances are those, anyways?

Simone Biles finds inspiration in Taylor Swift’s music, leading to triumph and mutual admiration

Sharing thoughts on the same, Biles’ choreographer Gregory Milan in an exclusive interview with EssentiallySports added, “So she said she loved Taylor Swift and Beyoncé. So with a gymnast in France, Victor, I asked him if he could create a piece where we could mix some Taylor Swift and Beyoncé or only Taylor Swift because Simone loves Taylor Swift. So, there you go.”

Narrating the hard work behind choreographing the routine, Milan also referred to how difficult it is to find instrumental covers of Taylor Swift’s songs. Milan also wanted to question Taylor himself and express his disappointment. “If Taylor Swift hears my message, I would have loved to tell her, ‘Why Taylor, if Simone is a fan of yours, why didn’t you make a special piece of music for her?”, said Milan.

That’s not all. Simone Biles has a personal affinity towards the Grammy award-winning singer, even wanting to cross paths with her in 2023. She was featured on The Today Show with Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie. They delved into all things Simone, right from her world leading scores at the World Gymnastics Championships to the Paris Olympics and a possible brushing of shoulders with Taylor Swift. She also spoke about possibly attending a Packers-Chiefs Game, an arena that would feature both the starlets’ respective significant others. One host ecstatically chimed in saying –“I would like to see you and Taylor, i think that would be really cute.”

Biles responded with –“I actually am going to that game.” Her fandom to Swift is clearly established, but there’s more to the story than meets the eye. Swift came in clutch in 2021, when Biles faced the debilitating twisties and what ensued next is a watershed moment in and of itself.

After Biles faced a setback in Tokyo and finally made a comeback, Swift herself voiced in a tribute video for Biles. Biles in exhilaration said, “I’m crying. How special. I love you Taylor Swift.”To this Taylor again replied back saying, “I cried watching YOU. I feel so lucky to have gotten to watch you all these years, but this week was a lesson in emotional intelligence and resilience. We all learned from you.” They can indeed be declared as mutual fans of each other. However, Swift’s songs truly turn out to be lucky charms for Biles. Now, fans would wait to watch the final showdown of the queen on the floor of the Paris Olympics.
