Simone Biles is back and better than ever—who can possibly challenge her for the gold?

Simone Biles’ stellar performance in Bercy Arena on Thursday (July 25) proved that she is nothing less than her Rio Olympics self from 8 years ago. Rather, now she can switch herself on at will, a skill honed through her challenging Tokyo Olympics experience, including her bout with the ‘Twisties.’ The Texas native has exemplified this prowess by attempting the Amanar vault (the vault she had not tried after the Tokyo Olympics) or the Yurchenko Double Pike vault (the vault Simone Biles tried as the only woman gymnast) on the mats this season. Still, the world had an unquenched thirst.

But after July 25, the world now has an idea of what might come next week when Simone Biles will take the gymnastics fight in the qualifying round. The fans have already started throwing towels toward the opponents. But what made Thursday so special?

The anticipation was already there but Simone Biles put a creamy layer on it by throwing her YDP move on the mat on July 25. During the Olympic podium training session for the US women’s gymnastics team at Bercy Arena, the entire squad and support staff were present. Media outlets eagerly awaited Biles’ return to the spotlight, and she did not disappoint. She performed two backflips in the air and landed with straight legs, sending journalists and spectators into a frenzy. On X, the handle, Poor Lawyer, shared the news, “Simone Biles stuck her yurchenko double pike in Podium training!” The emotions filled the room and people started to call it.

Above all, Simone Biles’ attempt at YDP, or Biles II, gave her coach a sigh of relief. The complexity of the schedule had Landi worried, especially since Biles was making a comeback after a two-and-a-half-year hiatus. Landi remarked that Simone is becoming increasingly comfortable with her smooth landings but mentioned that they might not see this vault repeatedly due to its difficulty. Later, the seven-time Olympic medalist confirmed the exclusivity of her schedule.

After concluding her practice session, Simone Biles had an informal conversation with Scott Bregman, a journalist for Olympics.com. She admitted that she had practiced the Yurchenko Double Pike once in the USA before coming to Paris, highlighting its difficulty. Biles’ artistry inspired numerous comments from satisfied fans who witnessed her poetry in motion.

The Yurchenko Double Pike stands with a D score of 6.4, towering above other schedules. So, giving it the ultimate form on the mat can give Simone Biles the upper hand over her opponents at the Paris Olympics. Therefore, the fans couldn’t feel happier when they saw their idol in full swing. One such fan already demanded, Give her the gold. so that she can go home now.”

The demand found its form again when another fan penned it down in the comment box. With every bit of emotion in its fold, the comment points, “Simone, no matter what you do here in Paris, you’ve already shown us your greatest piece of gymnastics EVER here today with this vault.” Not just with the demand to garland Simone with gold, the followers came displaying their feelings as well in the comment box.

One such fan added, “imagine training your whole life, making the olympics, flying to paris and then seeing this shit in warm ups. I’m going straight home. First flight. Going to school. Getting an MBA or some shit. Going for a walk. What the hell man”.
