The second part of Netflix’s Simone Biles Rising is almost here! Part 1 graced our screens on July 17, and we witnessed the G.O.A.T in an entirely different light. Sure, we know about her journey from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics to now. But up until this point, none of us knew what went on behind the glitz and glamour of the gymnast’s life. The first part navigates through her journey after everything that went down after the Tokyo Summer Games.

But the streaming giants just dropped the trailer for Part 2, and we get to relive the dazzling experience of watching the 27-year-old turn heads at the Bercy Arena. However, as easy as the gymnast made it seem, there’s always something lurking underneath the surface. Her husband, Jonathan Owens, reveals a different side to their journey. “You want to be the most human you can be with each other ’cause it’s hard being in the public eye.” 

Earlier this year, the Chicago Bears safety irked the internet with his hot take on The Pivot Podcast. Owens had implied that he was ‘the catch’. This caused quite a stir on the internet, with Simone Biles’ fans from all over the internet jumping to her defense. However, he redeemed himself when the first part of the docuseries dropped. The duo have always been each other’s biggest cheerleaders. But it shone through so much more on the show. 

In fact, fans witnessed how the Chicago Bears safety was the gymnast’s rock during an incredibly tough time. “Post-Tokyo, Jonathan was just like… ‘You’ll get back to where you were,’ and made sure I was staying on top of my training. He was making sure I was going to my therapy sessions and was trying to do as much as he could, without kind of being bossy.” The G.O.A.T. confessed how he helped her move past every gloomy day after Tokyo.

While the duo navigated through this hard time together, the clouds cleared up as they headed to Paris. Simone Biles looked forward to executing the perfect Redemption Tour at the Bercy Arena, and her loving beau was by her side every step of the way. However, she wasn’t the only one who got to experience a full-circle moment in the City of Light. 

Jonathan Owens showed up for Simone Biles during the Paris Olympics

During the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the gymnast had to perform in a near-empty stadium without her loved ones with her. However, that changed when she stepped into the French capital. 17 members of the Biles clan, including Owens, showed up to cheer the Olympian on. The Chicago Bears safety even pulled out of the NFL training camp to be there for his wife. He knew this would be one of the busiest times of the season, but had already worked it all out while signing with the Bears.

Could they get any cuter? They actually can! At the US Championships, Owens was in the stands with Simone Biles’ parents. However, he noticed them scribble down the scores after every performance. So, what did the 29-year-old do? He picked up on that trait and was spotted doing the same during the qualification and finals at Bercy Arena.

But that wasn’t the only thing that caught everyone’s eye. The 29-year-old showed up to the stadium, repping the G.O.A.T. by wearing her face on his t-shirt! From building their home together to watching the gymnast clinch 4 Olympic medals in Paris, the duo have come a long way. Their relationship may seem loved up in their social media posts, but the docuseries showcased how they’ve truly lived those moments together. 

We watched Simone Biles step down from the world’s biggest stage 3 years ago. While it was heartbreaking to relive those moments, watching Owens’ step was just as endearing.
