One more Olympics. One more qualification. But for Jonathan Owens, this was the first. He has never witnessed her wife Simone Biles securing a spot for the Olympics. This year brought Owens the pleasure. Understandably, the proud husband was elated and he did not hold back to let that out.

In a recent Instagram story, Owens shared his deepest feelings about Biles securing her spot on the Olympics team, captioning it, “We going to Paris ♥️♥️. Man I’m so proud,” expressing his overwhelming pride and joy at her accomplishment. In the accompanying picture, he shared a snapshot of the leaderboard, with Simone in the lead having 117.225 points. This is almost a 6 points difference with runner-up Suni Lee who got 111.675 points and Jordan Chiles with 111.425 points. The image captures a moment of triumph and excellence for Biles, reinforcing her status as a standout contender for the upcoming Paris Olympics.

Other than the three podium finishes, gymnasts Jade Carey and Hezly Rivera have also punched their ticket to the Olympic team. This will be Biles’ 3rd Olympic team, and she’s only the 4th woman in history to do so. She will be joining Muriel Grossfeld, Linda Metheny and Dominique Dawes in her triumph. Dawes told PEOPLE, “It’ll be wonderful to see her outshine what I had done many decades ago. She’s definitely deserved it. I’m sure she’s not only going to help the team medal but also she’s going to individually medal as well.” Ahead of the trials, Simone Biles topped the leaderboard in both the Core Hydration Classics with 59.50 and the Xfinity Championships with her 9th ever title. She won AA gold in both. Her comeback after the Tokyo Swifties fiasco has been monumental.

During the trials, she performed her Yurchenko double pike vault with perfection. All her routines were near perfect allowing for such a high score. In her floor exercise, she soared 12 feet off the ground in the first pass. She received a score of 14.275 in the event. Throughout the Olympic cycle, her husband has been there on the stands to support her. He’s also been vocal online. When Team USA made a tweet, “Honored to witness the @Simone_Biles era 🐐,” Owens sweetly replied “Just amazing 🤎.” It’s clear that the bond between them is getting just stronger by the day.

Jonathan Owens did not shy away from publicly supporting Simone Biles

Jonathan Owens does not miss an opportunity to support his Olympic gold medalist partner. In fact, after Biles’ routine during the trials, he leapt on his feet to celebrate. NBC Sports highlighted this by tweeting, “The Biles family was ON THEIR FEET for Simone Biles’ uneven bars. 👏 #USAGTrials24” The first time Owens showed his public support was at the U.S. Gymnastics Championships at the Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas in 2021 where Biles won the individual all-around gold. He wrote on Instagram, “What an amazing experience 👏🏽 First time getting to watch you compete in person and you didn’t disappoint. It’s so cool that i get to watch you do what you love, and be the best at that ‼️ I’m so proud of you my lil champ 🥰❤️ Trials up next and you already know I’m there!!”

He was also present at the XL center during the 2024 US Classics where Simone came first a record 7th time. During the National Championships he was spotted taking notes during Biles’ routine, probably to compare his estimated scores to the judges’ in a bid to understand the sports better. Biles called him her “whole heart,” after the event, underlining the love between them. Additionally, in the 2023 US Classics, though Owens was absent due to his NFL commitments, he sent her flowers. Biles too was spotted wearing a necklace with his name.

After the 2023 World Artistic Gymnastics, JO wrote under Biles’ post on Team USA, “SO PROUD  Love being able to watch you do your thing.” The couple even stood by each other when JO’s comments about being ‘the catch’ were going through a trial by the media. All in all, Biles’ personal life on the Homefront is surely a source of peace and inspiration as she moves forward into her professional challenges and the Olympics. This year, Biles is focusing wholly on her mental health first. This strategy seems to be paying off as she is already the worldwide favorite to win gold in the Paris Olympics. Hopefully we’ll see Owens take to the stands in France as well.
