Simone Biles creates a fan out of everyone! Right from the NBA court to the Team USA Olympic tent, it appears that her charisma has charmed veterans and cross-sport athletes alike. And ahead of her securing the third Olympic bid, the gymnast now has a debutant eagerly waiting to meet her in the French capital.

While Breakdancing is 12 days away from its curtain-raising moment at the Summer Games, one of its U.S. representatives has made a heartfelt confession regarding Biles. In an interview with Today.com, Sunny Choi, a to-be Olympic breakdancer admitted her fascination and confessed wanting to meet Biles.

When asked, “Any athlete you are looking forward to meeting at the Olympics?” Choi almost instantly responded saying, “Simone Biles, of course!” She further casts light on what makes her feel a special connection to Biles by remarking, “Especially being an ex-gymnast…”

Well, no one is oblivious to the fandom of Biles as a sports celebrity. Including Choi who states, “Everyone else appreciates her too…” But for Choi, it seems a notch deeper than that. She respects Biles for her stature but also finds a sense of reliability with her, having been a gymnast herself. “On a level where it’s just like I couldn’t do half of what she was doing and I was so pretty hell of a gymnast, it’s incredible,” she admits, hailing Biles supremacy in gymnastics!

Interestingly, this comes days after a few of USA’s NBA legends gave Biles the ultimate tribute. Applauding the ‘great’ Biles, Bam Adebayo said, “To be that good — well, excuse me, to be that great — and she still keeps breaking barriers.” He even unleashed the fan in himself saying that to see that one time or get a picture with her would mean a lot.

Chiming in, LeBron James complimented the gymnastics G.O.A.T.  He remarked, “Simone is super dope. And she’s an inspiration to my daughter and to all, not only Black girls in the world, but also, kids, anyone, not only just in gymnastics but any field.” The respect and adulation that Biles has won is just supreme. Kevin Durant feels she sets the tone for what a winner in life should be like. Thus, there are so many different aspects of her journey that people relate to and adore her for. For instance, Sunny Choi shares another aspect of relatibility with Biles.

Much like Simone Biles, Choi has dealt with mental health struggles

35-year-old Sunny Choi is now amongst the athletes who have openly talked about their mental health hardships. Recently speaking to NBC News, she confessed that to be able to perform at the Olympics, she knew she would have to work through her mental health concerns. But instead of brushing them under the carpet, it seems she decided to take her time and ‘work through them.’

Apparently, Choi suffered from phases of severe depression when she was a teenager. An ace achiever in school to a committed gymnast who trained 25 hours a week, she confessed“Coupled with having such high standards for myself, it went from periods of burnout to something much more extreme.” Whilst she took to a series of corporate jobs after college, she kept battling recurrent bouts of depression. She recalls how she felt nothing at a point, “I was a robot every single day.”

Biles has been through a similar burden. She once felt that the pressure of the world was on her shoulders and withdrew from the Tokyo Games. Thus, for both of these stars, being mentally ready for the challenge seems a major part of their preparation. Also, the stakes are incredibly high. For Choi, it’s the first time Breakdancing has been added to the Olympic roster, and so the eyes of the nation are on her. And for Biles, this being her third Olympics, everyone is rooting for her to come home a champion. Can they both return victors from Paris? Let us know your thoughts below!
