Can Simone Biles outshine legends like The Beatles and Elvis at the iconic CFG Bank Arena?

The Gold Over America Tour continues its enigmatic run across the USA. Watching Simone Biles & Co. at the zenith of their skills has been mindboggling, to say the least. Running high on their successful Parisian campaign, the gymnasts have once again been spreading their magic to the fans in the country. Keeping up with the gymnasts’ prowess, the venues that have hosted the shows thus far have also been memorable.

From the iconic Maverick Center in Salt Lake City to the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, these arenas have been able to complement the stars with ease. And now, the next one makes the final preparations before hosting Biles and her gang on October 8 at the CFG Bank Arena in Baltimore.

Originally opened as the Royal Farms Arena, this state-of-the-art venue recently underwent a massive $250 million renovation. Located in the heart of downtown, the arena reopened in April 2023 after the upgrades. The improvements to the venue’s infrastructure include modernized acoustics, luxury suites, and contemporary seating, making it a favored location for live events and organizers.

The venue is designed by BBB Architects and built by Clark Construction. It is owned by a partnership that includes Oak View Group, Live Nation, Pharrell Williams, and 35 Ventures. The elaborate project was managed by CAA Icon. The CFG Bank Arena is spread over a sprawling 400,000 Sq Ft and can seat more than 14,000 attendees. From these numbers alone, it can be well understood that the arena is perfectly capable of hosting an event that is on par with the grandeur that Biles and her Gold Over America Tour mates will bring to Baltimore. But it doesn’t end there!

The arena hosts more than 120 shows annually, including major performances by top artists and events like Monster Jam and Disney On Ice. For those who will be arriving there by car, parking is available in the arena’s 24/7 garage on Howard Street, with several other lots within a short walk. Public transport is also convenient, with nearby buses, light rail, and metro stops.

However, despite her worldwide popularity, Simone Biles is certainly not the biggest star to grace this revered arena. Since opening its gates in 1962, the CFG Bank Arena has hosted some true Behemoths over the years. From the iconic British rock group The Beatles to American heartthrob Elvis, from civil rights activist Martin Luther King Jr. to the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin, the list goes on and on.

In the past few days too, several A-listers visited the arena. Some of these stars include Stevie Wonder, rapper Nicki Minaj, popstar Billie Eilish, and heavy metal icons Slipknot, and Lamb of God. Without much head-scratching, it can be understood that the CFG Bank Arena is truly capable of handling some of the biggest stars in the business. But what can Simone Biles and her posse add to the legacy of the highly-revered arena? We’ll have to wait just one more day to see!
