Simone Biles has finally put to rest her Tokyo Olympics demons. She has qualified for Paris in what was her third coming at the Olympics. Competing at the US trials, Biles displayed phenomenal skills to clinch an all-around score of 117.225 to take the pole position. While she is basking in glory, there is one person that Biles is thankful to. And that is none other than the pop sensation Taylor Swift. After surprising the crowd by performing to Swift’s music last night, Biles once again resorted to Taylor Swift today. 

In the post-event interview, Simone Biles was asked about whether she informed Swift about using her music. Replying to the question, Biles heaped praises on the pop sensation. She said, “I think… My team talks to her team sometimes, and I’ve met her a couple of times, so it’s been really sweet.” Well, it all started yesterday when Biles used her track for the first time. Owning every beat of Swift’s ‘Ready for it’, Biles displayed impeccable control to send the crowd into ecstasy. 

Later, NBC Olympics shared the magical moments on X, which garnered a reaction from Taylor Swift herself. While NBC asked whether everyone was ready for Biles, Swift replied, “Watched this so many times and still unready. “She’s ready for it tho👏👏👏🥇🇺🇸❤️.” Well, it is evident that her choice of music has wowed even the singer herself. However, it was not Simone Biles who initially came up with the idea.

Simone Biles wanted to go all out for Paris. And for this, she wasn’t even hesitant about treading into uncharted territories. Thus, taking help from Cecile and Laurent Landi, Biles hired a choreographer from France, Gregory Milan. Milan, who was familiar with Biles’ choices in music, knew that mixing up Taylor Swift with her routines would be a great idea. However, the path was not easy. In an exclusive with Essentially Sports, Milan stated that finding an instrumental version of Swift seemed hard, but anyway, he managed to do so ultimately. 

This was the beginning of a series of impressive performances from Biles. She debuted with Swift’s music initially at the Core Hydration Classic. Not expecting such an uncanny collaboration, the fans were thrilled to the core. Meanwhile, the bond between Taylor Swift and Simone Biles dates way back to 2016. When the ‘Final Five’ won the gold in Rio, Taylor Swift gave a shout-out to the team that included Biles.

After her Tokyo debacle, Taylor Swift voiced her support for Simone Biles via an NBC tribute. She said, “Throughout the last week, her voice has been as significant as her talents, her honesty as beautiful as the perfection that had long been her signature. But don’t you see? It still is. She’s perfectly human. And that’s what makes it so easy to call her a hero.” Biles also had the honor of gracing Swift with the Gracie Grand Awards back in 2021. And now, after securing the  Olympic berth as the top athlete, Simone Biles will look to continue her tryst with Taylor Swift until the Olympic glory is conquered.
